As calabar boy wey I be... I must say that education is not meant for every body so you just have to know Who you are and then work on it.But of recent I discovered that our parents of this days believed we can't make it without education which is wrong.

Learning is the process of converting external ideas or concepts into personal and secure information.
Well said definition. I likes it.

Well, Emirett, I agree about passing exams even if you read a night before such exams. But the big question is, are you really learning by doing so? I don't think so. There is a huge difference between passing exams and learning. What you're doing is actually cramming. As a teacher, my goal is to help my students to not just pass exams but also to learn. I hope this answers your question.
Exactly, as a Teacher too, I don't advice my students to cram, rather they understand the concepts and the use of mnemonics in reading.

He will only read to pass for grade purpose and not grasp the concept of the course and how relatable it could be in the future. Some lecturers too aren't helping matters as they preferred word -for - word or "give me back as I gave you" kind of answers in exams...even some lecturers are not conforming to global trends in education... No innovations in their lecture delivery and materials.

Our education sector needs a revamp from the very beginning.

What of the students themselves and their parents? The teacher can't certainly do it alone.
When the student leave the school, what are the things he/she engages in afterwards?

I agree totally... This is a big issue with educational system from basic to tertiary!!!

It's quite shameful that over 96% of students in tertiary institutions, even postgraduate ones still feel a compulsion to cram just to obtain a highly valued paper qualification, at the expense of true knowledgeability and dexterity!!

The education system or approach of educators must change... Let's stop rewarding crammers, and actually start rewarding proficient and knowledgeable students.
I've seen people who didn't need to cram to pass...those type of people I respected them...while some all they do is cram and pass...it extra annoys me when they brag or feel they are above anyone else when all they did was cram and let's not forget cheat also...so cram + cheat...if you tell the person now do apply the knowledge practically they will just off

Because we have placed a high pedestal on grades alone so students prefer to go straight to the point without caring to know that's why a lot read only when exam is close which shouldn't be

Kindly see my signature kiss
That is why grade system was abolished in Finland.
