Why would someone even think of using it on food items in the first places. Is this also classified as ignorance?

It is widely used by traders to ward off pests on food items such as stockfish, dried fish, Pomo, beans, rice, crayfish and more. 99% of them cannot do without it and this is causing so many terminal health issues.
The only way to run away from this is to leave Nigeria.

Instead of wailing, why not buy these agro products immediately they are harvested and store them the way you think is healthy for you?

Some of you are so lazy that you want the farmers to do everything for you. From planting, to harvest, down to storage because you think you have money. Yet, when you get to the market and see a crazy hike in food prices, you run to nairaland to wail as usual. Don't you know that preservation comes at an extra cost?

Some of you cannot even find one honest farmer that grows everything you eat and make him your family supplier of agro products. In that case you know that what you are buying from him/her is sniper-free. But no! All you do is wail, wail, wail, wail.

Even if that lifeless man leaves office in 2023, the next criminal that will come on board cannot do anything to lower the price of agro products. Just brace up for it.

I was reading to see where they mentioned these other safe agro products to be used and nothing... All these Nigerian regulatory agencies and their lopsided approaches..
You want to convince farmers and users of these chemicals of their harmful implications and yet, you're not providing alternative.
Simply develop an alternative, subsidize it and everyone ports... Tomorrow, the next thing will be a total ban on sniper and some people's businesses will be gone just like that. Our government agencies should sit up. NOA is worst.
