Tanko Muhammad Swears In Eight Supreme Court Judges by Nobody: 10:43am On Nov 06, 2020
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has sworn in eight new Justices of the Supreme Court, pushing the number of Justices of the court from 12 to record 20.

The CJN presided as the eight of them, in turn, took their oath of office and oath of allegiance to the Nigerian Constitution.
After their swearing, they climbed to the bench where their 12 seniors were already seated, to their positions.

The newly inaugurated Justices of the apex court who were recently elevated from the Court of Appeal bench, included Justices Lawal Garba (North West), Helen Ogunwumiju (South West), Abdu Aboki (North West), and M. M. Saulawa (North West).

Others are Justice Adamu Jauro (North East), Samuel Oseji (South South), Tijani Abubakar (North East) and Emmanuel Agim (South South)

angry An innumerable number of Justices in a country where people have to beg, cry and suffer to get justice for themselves; whereas those who know they that need to be known are above the court.

The Judiciary remains a shadow of its true definition as expressed in ze constitution.

But, congratulations to the people, big step in their career.

Why should we have 20 ...it should be 6 ,12,18,or 24 or 30 so that each zone can he equally represented but as usual north just want to have more

Rubish. Buhari has destroyed this country. Fulani Supreme Court. Not even a single Christian northerner. All of a sudden, Northern muslims are becoming highly educated to be Supreme court judges while the southerners turn to almajiri. This is a plot to install more Uzodimma's in Nigeria states. The damage that Buhari has caused in Nigeria would take millions of years to correct.

Chief Justices of Sharia Republic... We all know most of dem are not even qualified to b magistrate court judges as was evidenced in the national embarrassment dat was recommended for the international court of Justice

If this is outside Nigeria, you'll see names of southerners top the list but in Nigeria they'll never be qualified. The few you saw there is just to coat the list.

Tomorrow you ask why the south east always agitate.

It must be an odd number so as to break a tie.

Nigeria's Constitution allows for a maximum 21. (The way it is arranged is that every Geopolitical zone must have at least 3, the extra 2 is just based on political strength/bias).

We have 20 now, with the last to be filled by the NC (Nasarawa, precisely).

Justice Ridwan Maiwada Abdullahi, presently at the Court of Appeal, Akure was stepped down for administrative reasons but the issues have now been sorted out.
