Thanks to developers who port Google Camera (Gcam) App, you can now have a taste of The new Gcam 8.0 on your Android phone.
Loads of new features, improvements and refinements.
The good thing I also noticed is improvements in video recording and quality.

Mods from 7.4 up aren't compatible with Android 9.

Most of them not all, yesterday I managed to install a 7.4 Mod, I just can't remember which one it was since I have been trying most of them. It is just that it wasn't optimized for my device so I ended up uninstalling it.

I said "not compatible".
Either they crash on launch or they don't work properly like in your case.
