Hi guys, so basically I'm a 100L pharmacy student.
Our First semester result were just released on our portal and fortunately for me I'm on a 4.9/5.0 CGPA
I've always heard so many people saying CGPA isn't a necessity for medical/Pharm students since it's unclassified
I put in a Lot of effort in getting that CGPA and I won't lie its really exhausting
Do I just focus on just "Passing my courses" or Continue with the CGPA hunt?
I'd love to hear from Med/pharm students in higher levels or any one that has an idea


PS; This post isn't intended to brag at all

Basically, you can continue to be hardworking if you need scholarship

Yes, he got a commonwealth scholarship and left for UK last week. He isn't the reason why you are a failure or couldn't get a good cgpa in school. He doing well as a scholar, UX designer, and as a human being. You can mix your sniper with hollania yogurt for smooth death.

I just went through all the comments and i saw some hating and some insulting but i'm suprised to see that nobody told You that You cant have a CGPA in your first semester in 100Level, what You have there is a GPA, You can only have a CGPA after you have completed 2 semesters.

4.9 is really a good GPA.
Once you cross over to Pharmacy school, GP won't be that important. You will only need to be the best in all your courses/professional exams/departments. Always aim for Distinction. It paves way, i tell you.

Since you are in Pharmacy, your CGPA could be calculated. Though its unclassified, all graduates in Pharmacy came out with at least 2.1. But that cannot be said for those in Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary Medicine.

Can you focus on passing your courses without making good grades? Or make good grades without passing your courses?

There's a way they grade it. You could be the best in Pharmacology, Clinical pharmacy, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacy technology etal by virtue of having enough Distinctions in them from your 200L-500L/600L.

There's nothing like "" in Pharmacy school.
The lowest pass grade is "C" that is 50%, some is even 60%. So 49 or 59 could mean outright Fail.
Its either Distinction,Pass, Fail.

It's unclassified.
Do you want a situation where a hospital would call for job application and says only those that have distinction are needed or a patient would say only those with distinction should treat me.

It will cause problem.
Your distinctions would help you if you are applying for graduate school abroad. It may open doors for you as BGS( you may get automatic internship in your teaching hospital).

Outside that, you are no more special than the next person that struggled to have "pass" throughout.

In the Labour market, your dexterity in carrying out your duty, your connections, opportunities, and of course, the God factor are all that matters. Nobody would care whether you made distinctions throughout.

Pass your courses and move on.Pharmacy school would be a place to test your intelligence.
During my time in college of medicine, we all had 4.9 CGPA, some 5.0 CGPA in first year. But when we crossed over to college, that was when things started changing. People were now struggling to score 50%.

First year is always easy anyday anytime.
Like i said, be the best. It will help you in getting scholarships too. Some of us enjoyed scholarship during our time.
