Good day guys please I need you guys help mostly the carpenters in the house.
Please I have a budget of 500k to use for roofing my 3 bedroom bungalow please will it be enough And I intend using stone coated roof just like the one attached below and please also I'm open to any suggestion thanks .

Due to the high cost of materials right now on the market... Sorry 500k is too small

Is the 500k for both the wood work and the roof panel or just for the roof panel?

It would not be enough even with the cheapest materials. I just completed my own roofing (3bedrooms) using Cameroon zinc. I had some trees which I cut and sawed so I only bought just few pieces of wood. I had to buy the materials myself, so no room for ripping off. I negotiated labour to the last kobo(70k) for both the wood work and the installation of the zinc and I didn't raise the roof too high, yet I spent about 640k. So you can now see why I said that 500 can not be enough.

Using that roofing sheet which you posted earlier.. And wood including workmanship and everything else... 3million.. Give or take.. Due to the high cost of materials right now on market...

I did my own roofing last month using that same stone roofing sheet including wood and everything I spent close to 4.5 million naira... Mine was 4 bedroom bungalow very spacious and big...

i will like to ask question as regards Cameroon Zinc ......how much is it in the market ........and whats the difference between it and Aluminium ..how did you go about getting the exact woods for the building ...i recieve a qoutation which i seems to be too much for me and am looking for way to reduce cost.

any help with this will appreciated

My dear, their quotations will always be too much and scary. So focusing at it will discourage you and might result to you abandoning the project. To your questions: (1) Aluminium is thicker in gauge than Cameroon zinc. Again, some Cameroon zincs contain iron which make them rust after some time. (2) Cameroon zincs are 15pcs in a bundle (2ft x8ft per pc) and costs 17,500 for the plain ones as at last 2 weeks that I roofed my own. But I used the new one they call "animal skin design- a bundle of it was 23,000 as at that time. (3) As for woods, like I stated earlier, I had some trees which I cut. So when those ones finished, we counted the number to purchase which were just few pieces.

My humble advice is this; don't wait until you have the whole money before you start. And don't listen to those carpenters coz they will like you to pack all the woods in the timber market and drop for them to be wasting them as if it was not your sweat. Don't buy the whole woods at once and then you have to keep a very sharp eye on them. Then coming to the roofing sheets, if you have the the time and the brain, go for aluminium coz it's not as expensive as those theives called roofers make people to believe

my dear roofing stage is a very big challenging stage in building. I would have liked to see the floor plan of the house, the roof plan(if any) and then the quotation given to you. If I see these, we can rob minds together and estimate the likely number of woods you should be looking at.
