If you ask me this is just a populist agenda.
Paying an ex governor around 500 k monthly with a five bedroom house, a car every 8 years and taking care of his medical bills won't make a state go bankrupt.
While I disagree with the amount ex lagos governors earn, it's not wasteful to take care of our ex governors.
If it was 500k a month then it would be acceptable but I think the amount is circa 7 million , a car change every 3 months and houses in both state of residence and Abuja. Compound that with the fact these people still have the first pick of government contracts and still have their tentacles in the corridors of power , then the pension is simply too much.

Politics of bitterness & anger is why you typed what you did... Lagos just gives una headache... your opinion is predicated on making a mockery of this cos states like Delta refused to....A state with 5-6 ex govs, Dep, speakers on payroll after not serving for years... May God epp una minds..

In saner climes (that you lots keep referring to) political office holders go back to their jobs/ businesses when their terms are over... Bush, Clinton, Obama etc just enjoy Secret Service protection not the state still buying them groceries.....
Ask the boy why an ex governor who put in work for just four or eight years should be "taken care of" while the same governor while in office doggedly refused to take care of aged men and women who had put in 30 years plus of work.

Some of these people have sawdust for brains.

Don't stop at your ex governors.

What of your ex ministers, senators and house of assembly members?

Nigerians are yet to realise that their country is poor.

Well in as far the repeal will also affect him when he too become ex then its fine to be adopted nationwide but I don't want hear the law only affect up to 2020 but not effective beyond 2020 then it will not work.

Oga pass the law but let it be permanent as a law in the state if you are honest with your move

Igbo governors will never agree to this
Dubious igbo governors will not emulate this brave step toward saving cost and managing scarce resources.

And the useless Igbo youths won't ask their dubious leaders to take such giant steps.

They are only interested in masturbating over issues that concern Lagos and south west, especially when their conqueror- Tinubu is involved.

States that can't 30k minimum wages to workers or pay pension to retired civil servant who gave 35years of their life to the service, should be paying ex governors and deputy governors bogus pension abi? Same ex governors who already looted the state and made themselves super rich, and also failed to provide basic amenities to its populace. We must get sense las las

Do you and your colleagues need to tell us before repealing? When there is a court judgement to that effect the governors that hoard COVID 19 palliative will also hoard the repealing of the ex governors pensions

Civil servants that work way longer, earn way less while on the job and even collect way lesser as pension compared to ex governors.

A nation that has recently been labelled the "poverty capital of the world" has no business, absolutely no business paying Ex-governors that served for a maximum of 8 years humongous pensions.
Don't mind the guy.
In a country where people die because they can't afford drugs/injections of barely $1, where bright minds drop out of school because they can't afford utme form of barely $15 or pay school fees of barely $100
The state might not go bankrupt paying governors and their deputies "pension" but there are always more pressing things to spend every penny on if our governments were to be sincere.
500k monthly is 6m(about $15k) annually. This can pay 10 people 50k monthly. This is just for 1 governor, not to talk of his deputy.

Meanwhile, the costs get bigger with each government.

Real pensioners are being owed their peanuts while rich ex political office holders get their huge and undue "pensions" as and when due.
It is well.

DELTA STATE IS NEXT.

WHY MUST JAMES IBORI CONTINUE TO EARN PENSION HAVING LOOTED FOR 8 YEARS THE TREASURY OF DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT LEAVING THE STATE FINANCIALLY PARALYSED.

Ibori brought in his boys to government like Uduaghan and now Okowa whose track record are below average.

Oin grin

Your opinion though, but can you hear yourself ? taking care of ex governors who serve for just a 8 years is not wrong but paying civil servants who worked for 35 long years their pension is seen as a favor not a right.

If workers that worked tirelessly for 30years are being denied their monthly stipend, why would Governor of 8 years be receiving different treatment?

Holding Political offices is meant for service and not enjoying. They deserve nothing

Being a former Governor doesn't mean you can't work and receive salary if you have no business, we shouldn't be encouraging impunity

Pension is pocket change, but a good first-step move nonetheless. Nigeria political system is structured to produce corrupt godfathers and dynasties.
