They have cornered the biggest part of the finances in an even bigger way. They can get VAT and port duties their way, but remember the bulk of the $ 5-7 billion of port, VAT and all trade dues stays in Lagos and has its multiplier effects there. It's the holding of the 50-60 billion USD oil funds by virtue of control of the FG that gives the power. FG takes 52.68% of that and as long as they control it, they have that. Naija is an interesting place.

BH members are simply agents of identity politics at the base level. The NE elite didnt plan for the insurgency/jihadist part. However, they intended to use it to enforce their will on the distribution and struggle for power.
