Giving them something modest as I listed above is not too much.
Keep quiet, if you have nothing meaningful to contribute.

DELTA STATE IS NEXT.

WHY MUST JAMES IBORI CONTINUE TO EARN PENSION HAVING LOOTED FOR 8 YEARS THE TREASURY OF DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT LEAVING THE STATE FINANCIALLY PARALYSED.

Ibori brought in his boys to government like Uduaghan and now Okowa whose track record are below average.
HOW DO WE LOUD THIS?

There is nothing bad in paying former governor and deputies after serving there constitutional terms. While I am against reckless and uncecessary payment but then the governor's and there deputies had served the states in every capacity. Former governor and deputies should be paid moderately. Like on monthly salary, medicals, cook and other domestic staffs should be paid.

Leave Saraki alone. You're obsessed
As far as we may see it as witch-hunting..... It's actually good for the state, its gonna save the state a whole lot of money and if utilized wisely could help upset some bills accrued in the state

Saraki did so many bad things as a chairman of Nigeria governor forum. He killed local government by creating joint account with the state, he introduced pensions for former Governors and deputy after the death of Muhd Lawal n many states followed the suit.

It is welcome idea and hope other states can do the needful

The governor and his advisers are deluded. Is it thesame pension law said to have been repealed in 2018 by his predecessor or another?

So he is looking for a cheap popularity by bringing Sarakis name into it.

What is wrong with repealing the state pension law? Why should Saraki and other former governors and deputy governors continue to collect huge pensions despite looting the state dry while in office?

We all supported the move to repeal the law in Lagos, why should Kwara be different?

The APC governors should not wait until BAT support the move for Lagos. Zanfara and Imo state governors many months ago announced the move in their states. The rogues in PDP will not see this as a right move. Professional thieves.

If it was 500k a month then it would be acceptable but I think the amount is circa 7 million , a car change every 3 months and houses in both state of residence and Abuja. Compound that with the fact these people still have the first pick of government contracts and still have their tentacles in the corridors of power , then the pension is simply too much.
Then why not reduce it drastically? This complete removal looks purely politically motivated to me and reeks of hypocrisy on the part of Lagos. The issue has always been that the pension was too much, why abolish it? Why not just revert to something affordable for the state... Smh. We applaud nonsense till it gets to us, maybe our parents that are permanent secretaries shouldn't get pension too on retirement

You’ve hit the point sir
It’s a political move to clean the image of Nigerian politicians most especially Lagos. Don’t be surprised to see some of them counting it as part of an achievement come next election grin

Really, I do not support it's reduction, what I support is complete removal/eradication of it. The dude above trying to justify pensions for public servants because civil servants gets paid pension is getting it all twisted. Politicians are public servants, that is quite different from civil servants, the latter having worked for 35 years deserve to be taken care of in their old age, but in Nigeria pensions and gratuities are conveniently owed as arrears running into months and years until these pensioners die from/in penury.

The same government has conveniently made laws to institutionalise the anomaly and illegality of paying pensions to public servants who serve less than a decade, during a time they wield powers that enriched 'em beyond imagination and at the expense of the civil servants and the generality of the population. That is great mischief.

As per it being a political move to clean/launder the image of the average Lagos politician, yes I concur. If a Nigerian politician decides to eat in your presence or decides to enter the same public transport as you do, it is definitely image laundering. Politicians mixing with the people they govern is not normal in Nigeria unlike in sane countries where even the presence of a political figure on a public bus does not cause any stir.

But I tell you that if they like, they should even stop collecting their own salaries, that still would not change the impression that people already have about them. The hoarding of palliatives was an eye opener to even their strong supporters who painfully realized that the same politicians they'd kill for will not flinch if they die of hunger.

A new awakening was created with that discovery. It may not be a strong deciding force, but it is a paradigm shift from before. The people do not trust the government before, the events of October 2020 have only deepened that distrust and no amount of image laundering by the government or any politician will alter the mindset of the people.

I agree with you sir. But about the paradigm shift you speak of ? I await 2023 to see evidence of that.
