DR. GODWIN MADUKA ATTENDED THE GRAND RECEPTION OF THE ANAMBRA STATE PDP CHAIRMAN AT AWKA.

Yesterday at Awka, the Umuchukwu billionaire Medical Doctor and the frontline aspirant to the office of the Anambra State Governor under the People's Democratic Party attended the Grand reception held at the Finotel Hotel Awka in the honour of Hon. Sir Ndubisi Nwobu(Obuka Awka), the Anambra State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party.

Dr. Maduka who felicitated with the Chairman at the event, described Hon. Sir Ndubisi Nwobu as an indifatigable and very hardworking Chairman who has always carried out his duties as the Chairman of our great party with profound wisdom and high sense of professionalism, he also applauded the Chairman for his giants strides and many milestones recorded under his administration as the Anambra State Chairman of our great party PDP. He stated further that under the leadership of Hon. Sir Ndubisi Nwobu, that the Anambra State Chapter of the PDP has recorded tremendous victories in many elections with emphasis to the last National Assembly and State Assembly elections in Anambra State, he also noted that the party has maintained a brotherly spirit despite our different political aspirations under Obuka Awka.

While speaking to the newsmen at the event, Dr. Maduka was asked, "Why are you aspiring to become the next Anambra Governor ?"

"Let me tell you something, I have never nursed any political ambition at all in my life. I have always wanted to retire a much fulfilled medical doctor. Something happened to me when I first came to Nigeria from the US, I had started working by then, so when I came to Umuchukwu, things were so bad. It was all about poverty, despair, and underdevelopment. I was so sad about that visit and I promised myself that I won’t allow the village where I grew up to remain the same. It was out of “positive anger” that I decided to build a semblance of an American city. So if you go to Umuchukwu today, you’ll see that that “anger” has paid off. I’m worried and sad again, not against anybody, but sad about poverty and underdevelopment. I have clarity of vision of the kind of development; I want to bring in Anambra state. Anambra people are very special people, we are like the heart of Igbo land, and when things are not going very well here, there’s the possibility that other places in Igbo land will be affected. We need the best man for the job now. To be frank, the next couple of years won’t be so easy in Nigeria, so we need leaders who can think outside the box in their effort to provide solutions. I tell people always that people who approach leadership with that kind of angry disposition are always the best. Prof Dora Akunyili (God bless her soul) lost her sister as a result of fake drugs, and when she was made the DG of NAFDAC, she fought the circulation of fake drugs with such a ferocious determination. I call it “positive anger,” the kind of anger that gives you the motivation to go the whole hog, not the one that encourages a person to harm, malign people for selfish reasons. It is not the kind of energy that pushes you towards brigandage or any dastardly acts. It should be a motivation to create new developmental imprints while consolidating and building upon the efforts of your predecessors" Dr. Godwin Maduka.

PDP Chairmanship reception in Anambra State and no big party stalwart from State and National level there? Did Gov. Peter Obi show up for the reception? Just curious. Worse still, he is using all these mushroom, amateur, self-acclaimed PR outlets to launder his image. I hope he has started counting his losses. This is not Nollywood movie. The other contestants just stepped back to watch his "magic" before they unleash their venom on him. 90% of the hangers-on are only seeing him as a temporary meal ticket. However, there is nothing wrong in a man entertaining himself. I believe that he is just having fun and not really serious about the gubernatorial thing especially the way he is going about it. By the time he transverses the whole 21 LGAs in Anambra state and feeding the hungry crowds, he will understand what he got involved in. Currently he seems to be the only thing happening in PDP and they will expect him to foot all bills.

In Nigeria brand of politics, the best brains don't win election. The evil ones put hands together to first bring him down as their common enemy, they then start fighting themselves for the position.
The most evil and vicious of them all usually wins.

Being successful in one's career cannot be used to measure political dexterity required by any governor in Anambra State to be successful. Dr. MADUKA is very successful man in area of medicine in USA. I doubt his experience to rule Anambra State. Considering his antecedent at his local town politics, notwithstanding his feat and development, he still met stiff strong and violent opposition from people. Money is not about everything.

I wish he could mind his medical profession in USA. Where he wants to make impact in Anambra State, he can build private and good tertiary health institution to minimize our people's medical tourism to USA and other countries. The money he would have wasted in this wild goose chase should be used to do so.

That is my humble opinion though.

Anambra is a progressive state, see the kind of technocratic and enlightened people they are championing while our shithole Abia state is busy with dustbin governor, ochendo and Ikuku. Abia state is cursed
