ASUU as a Pressure Group may just achieve what comatose NLC can't achieve. See how they are quiet over fuel price hike.

Now we know better, it was all about the money and not the general welfare of our universities. You want to continue receiving salaries from different higher institution at same time, a country that is battling unemployment will have a single lecturer employed in more than two to three universities at same time

You don't know what you're talking about, is revitalization fund for infrastructures for ASUU? Is visitation panel about money? Tell FG to recruit more lecturers, a lecturer who teaches in other school is hired because of his experience and specialization that fresh graduates doesn't have.

A very careless statement that Endsars protesters kept making during their protest....
You are fighting for your welfare legit (We all know that the whole revitalization song is a smokescreen, the real issue has always been IPPIS) and you want everyone to bear with you, when you won't be ready to bear with them in their own wahala. Keeping them at home when all odds are stacked against the students is insensitivity. You guys can always get your salaries and allowances back, but will students get the time wasted back?

I will support the Government if they choose to open the schools using force after this last meeting! Enough of Nonsense!!!!

The way people just pick and proclaim some random idea as fact is truly unbelievable.
Revitalization is a smokescreen? Really? What about all the previous times ASUU has successfully fought for this same revitalization?

Annoying sad

ASUU is showing it's union is truly united and won't back down from their demands..
.
Professors earning peanut compared to uneducated political jobbers sad
Then why didn't they become political jobbers?

Nobody is responsible for their choices. All the comparison is needless. Political jobbers all over the world have it better. They would've done research before becoming academicians. It's nobody's fault but theirs.

You are just a careless and insignificant ranter.

Perhaps, you are yet to realize the importance of quality education which is why, going by your statement on wasted time, you are so comfortable with displaying a meaningless certificate up and down all in the name of answering a graduate.

ASUU is fighting for the revitalization of our public tertiary institutions, first and foremost.

Yes, ASUU is also fighting for IPPIS.

To tell you the truth, an unsatisfied lecturer who is disgruntled because his take home pay cannot take him home is the worst thing you will ever wish to experience in your academic life, trust me.

Utas is also a scam. Each party is looking for how to get the better deal. But ippiss is better to discipline lecturers who want to teach in 7 universities and never attend their classes because they want to split like an octopus. Greedy lecturers.

Their salaries would still remain the same...It depends on the amount that is computed..ASUU has other demands and ulterior motives for not accepting IPPIS

Well, the onus falls on you as their parent who is completely responsible for them to get them engaged.

There are some useful skills you can encourage them to acquire now.

Mind you, the world today is fast moving away from certificates and towards skills.

A word is enough for the wise.

Don't be biased in your thinking. Just last week, Ngige stated the monies the FG agreed to release for universities funding (not ASUU salary). The contention on salaries is about payment platform which is not suitable to them. Others who joined are already regretting as you read up there. So, stop blaming ASUU unnecessary

Revitalization is a smokescreen? IPPIS is the main issue? Really?
Daddy, ASUU has been in the trenches fighting recalcitrant governments for decades, long before anything called IPPIS existed.

But I promise you: that fight will soon stop largely because we are tired of being vilified by the very people we are defending. The truth that some ASUU members refuse to accept is that student fees are a major portion of the IGR of (capitalist) universities. This is one area where the Nigerian government is right: if we are serious about autonomy, we should be ready to stop depending on government for 95% of our funding. When that happens, each university will be able to generate something of the order of 5 to 10 billion naira per year from just student fees. Then we will stop needing to fight for "revitalization" every few months, and there will be peace in the universities.

I look forward to that day, and I am happy to say that it is coming soon.

unfortunately for you, government knows it cannot do a thing. This is the major problem, the Nigerian student. Instead of you to stand up and support ASUU in demanding for a better learning environment as it is obtainable in your favorite saner climes quote, you prefer overcrowded classrooms, non equipped laboratories and non existent general infrastructures. These are all as a result of poor funding of education sector while the same people you are supporting are stealing billions meant for the good of you. Is UTAS going to increase lecturers salaries? Will ASUU collect the revitalisation fund so far released to the universities? The answer is no. All of you prefer to graduate with nothing in your brains, a science student not knowing what a microscope is or cannot not differentiate a lab equipment from lab apparatus. Then, there will be cries of no jobs while your counterpart from covenant etc are rejecting jobs.

I graduated long ago from a private University.

Did that solve the problem you are creating in elongating student's stay in School?

If ASUU wasn't forced to enroll into IPPIS this year, there wouldn't have been a strike, atleast not yet.
This Present strike is all about IPPIS, and all ASUU wants is a compromise from FG and they will rush back to school.
