Ikpeazu May Drop Abia Airport Project by Front0lane: 5:22am On Nov 16, 2020
Following the request by Abia State traditional rulers led by their chairman, Eze Joseph Nwabeke of Eziama Ntigha of Isialangwa North, Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu says he is considering to jettison the Abia Airport Project.

The governor stated this while receiving in audience the Principal Officers of the State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chairmen of the Traditional Rulers Council in the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Joseph Nwabekee and the Royal Fathers had urged the governor to shelve the proposed Abia Airport Project for now and use funds earmarked for it to complete the ongoing road projects in the state including some portions of the dilapidated Aba – Port Harcourt Highway and Aba – Ikot Ekpene Highway which are Federal Government roads.

Nwabekee said that fixing the roads would boost the economy of the state.

The governor assured them that he would table their request for government to shelve the proposed airport project before the State Executive Council for proper review and a decision.

The airport project was initiated by the former governor of the state and now senator representing Abia Central, Sen. Theophilus Orji.

What is this stupid governor building an airport for when existing roads in the state are eyesore? No good infrastructural facilities & life is meaningless to the masses.

From Orji Uzor Kalu, to TA Orji and now Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia state have gone from one foolish clueless & corrupt governor to another. It is nauseating that an industrious state of this kind elected these evil.

Bad roads everywhere but it's airports they're all rushing to build.

How many people use airports?

Is there something they are not telling us?

Abia is one of the states with the worst set of road.

Aba is one of the filthiest city on planet earth.

Invest money in those places and not a certain airport that might not be seeing up to 10 passengers a month.

Sometimes I wonder who advises our politicians.

They are a group of employees but you guys don't know. They are being paid to do this. If you watch closely, you will notice they're always ready! Always on every thread and get more aggressive when issues related to 2023 presidency is mentioned. They somehow relaxed their operations after Buhari won second term. But the Lekki uprising took them totally unawares, so their handlers assembled them again, this time with more vigour, to create serious devides amongst ethnicities in Nigeria. You can't pacify them and you can't stop them. The APC/BMC/Buhari media groups are on an infamous mission! They will kill and maim to maintain the status quo. That's why most right thinking people around see them as potential threats to the good future of the country and so ceaselessly assail them..

This idea of biulding airports in every state of the south east shows you how empty most of these governors are. The Anambra state governor is spending billions to biuld an airport at his home town when Asaba airport is just less than ten miles away! Abia state governor is trying to start his, when Owerri airport is just few kilometers away! Ebonyi state governor is on a new airport project, when Akanu Ibiam can do the needful! These are multi-billion naira projects in states with prehistoric hospitals, primary schools and bad roads! Gigantic white elephant projects, more like "airport dick measuring". There are so many things they can do with such huge amount of money but they seem intellectually starved! All of them looking for that signature project that will help them embellish their lackluster performances as governors for 8 solid years.

Don't mind them. They are in the hunt for "legacy" projects.

But I think Anambra Airport can be excused because of it's cargo component which will serve Onitsha main market and Nnewi. Again, Anambra people are wealthy enough to feed the airport with passengers.

But I seriously do not understand Ebonyi and Abia building airports.

Who is gonna use Ebonyi airport for goodness sake?

Ebonyians are yet to pay for bus transports and you are building airport?

What Ebonyians need now is a governor who will invest in the people. Teach them skills and set them up with sufficient capital.

White elephant projects can come later.

Ebonyi folks are doing well but you won't know. Ask those living around Onitsha. Very good business people. Maybe not as flamboyant as Anambra folks... As per the Anambra airport, I have no doubt that Anambra people can keep it running. But if you ask me, I will say that reaching an agreement with Delta State to buy into the Asaba airport would have been better business. The two neighboring states could have been co-owners.. It would have saved Willy Obiano lots of money because from what I hear, nothing much is going on since he started pouring billions into that airport project. .. Btw, This cargo airport things in the east sef? We started our own in imo State like that and it's still struggling to grow. Why are state biult airports in the East mainly called "cargo airports"? Because I remember one of the arguments advanced then for labelling Imo airport a cargo airport was because the federal government refused to approve a license for a general airport there.

Confused and overgrown cow!
It's so painful to us as Abians that we have governors who have failed successively, but that this one keep rubbing it in our faces is a reminder that you should never hand power over to a man without vision.

The okezie ikpeazu administration is more interested in copying what other governors are doing and at other times they act "Siddon dey look".

For an idea of what I'm saying, look at the flyover project, he saw Ebonyi State doing it, he followed..and more than 3-years down the line, he's still stuck there.

Concrete roads, the same thing. Even before commissioning the few he has done, ordinary Keke napep tires are wearing off the surfaces!

Ngwa road in Aba is a disaster, those who do business there are exposed to different health issues on a daily basis.

Recently, I've been seeing him on billboards with large letters, smiling beside the inscription "Kinetic Abia" and I weep..Ben Ayade has rubbed useless vocabulary on this one.

The greatest losers of this man's failure are the Ngwa people, he had the golden opportunity to reform, revive and revamp Aba, but he has failed!
