If the agency decides to recruit 350 candidates on blind merit, you probably won't make the list.

Anybody that's exposed and well travelled knows that you would find some of the most intelligent persons from the Northern part of the country.

From each of those Northern States, they were more than 10 candidates with 1st Class Degrees and PhDs in various disciplines that are part of this recruitment process.

For a recruitment that will engage just a few hundreds, there are more than enough overly qualified candidates from both the North and South.

Let's focus on what we can do to increase our chances and be respectful to others. I'm from the North and I unapologetically hold my own around the world.

Please don't mind him. In as much as I would have supported him before but serving in the North gave me a different perspective of the Northerners. I believe we should respect everyone irrespective of anything. Let's be guided because this life is too short and this is not Nollywood, we don't know who we will meet someday.

No it can't be same for all states. Southern Nigeria will likely get very high scores as cut off mark while northern state can even get as low as 20 as cutoff mark, you know those guys nor like school like that. This disparity is one of the major problems in modern Nigeria. How can someone who scored 35 not given a chance over who scored 20 is beyond me. Our system is not truly on merit. We dont encourage the best brains. But we have to deal with it. See you in the interview stage.

This is snear misinformation, every country on Earth practice the quota system provided it's a government owned job or a government owned institution. If what you suggesting is put in place, then some particular local government who aren't sound won't be part of the process.Northerners might have a majority, but people with bad scores exist in all Nigeria States and some of them are given the privilege to serve base on this system. This is for even distribution and representation of manpower.
Number one aim of the government is just to provide employment, 70% of design and construction which most of this agencies are entrusted with aren't done by them. They are given to private companies. So basically government jobs only do paper works with lay down principles on supervision, basically how many best brain do you need for such job?
Take the best brain or high score employment ideology to a private firm, but that right there won't work for a government establishment.

Which progressive country in the world practices quota system...What is this blatant lie?

Also, it's not the job of the government to provide employment but to make the market a level playing ground, when government hire more than required people in civil service, they are not providing employment because inevitably tax payers money are used to pay for redundant people.

That does not make sense, if not that we get revenue from oil maybe we would have realized the impact of this foolish practice.

It's also this stupid mentality that federal works are national cake that makes people feel entitled to jobs even though their scores is poor because they are from a particular region. Let it be merit based please

You talked about progressive countries, that we all know are countries that practice Capitalism . Despite still Capitalist have a way of engaging the average mind, China is a clear example Sir.
And it's not a Blatant lie Mr, every government system practice's it. for equal representation in government.
Let's the privilege City men and women don't think the play ground should be same for those who grew up in typical villages, the amount of lead poisoning alone in zamfara ground water is enough to make a child unsound academically forever. So my brother only government jobs can absorb such people.

Lol. in a progressive country, the average mind finds it's fit...There's a lot of menial jobs that pay enough to earn a decent living and there's unemployment check or programs that helps the unemployed find their feet, no one dumb down a recruitment procedure just so people who are educationally poor can fit, it's ridiculous. Yes the mark in the private sector is always higher but doesn't mean people deliberately reduce mark for a particular section.
Even in diversity hiring in Yankee, you must get to certain basic threshold everyone is required to then you get ahead based on the diversity slot.

White collar jobs is not for everyone, in stable countries you could run your own mini business if school is not your thing. Heck some craftsmen earn a good enough wage.

The only people that have the right to feel entitled to slots in oil and gas are host communities and even at that their candidates should also be sound.
We pack dummies full federal service and wonder why we are backward

I wonder how people like this just come up from nowhere in the face of injustice to state that every country practice quota system. The thing with this mentality is that it breeds mediocrity and perhaps it's the main reason why the north has continued to remain stagnant in education. What do u even mean by every country practice quota system? Do you mean someone below average scores will be employed in a developed nation over an excellent candidate? This is not to say it hasnt happen before but, it is not the norm in a developed society! No american is more american than another, they wont take mediocres over outstanding personnel. My problem with the Nigerian setting is that we have made it the norm. I wonder how you want the country to develop with such silly mindset.

The quota system makes the weaker people in the south also gets job? This act is mainly due to corrupt system which we must fight. Some are not even qualified for the job, I must tell you the truth. This is all I am saying, it's wrong! We need to get things working. If you take a step back and view this argument with a bird's eye view, you'll realise it doesnt mean even a 3rd class student or ND student wont be employed. They will if we get the system to work but how do we get it to work when we continue to put mediocres in offices?

Besides, why are you scared when things about merit are being voiced? It's not also certain that me and my family will get the job but I know it's for a greater Nigeria. If you feel the north will be cheated, get them good education and dont display inferiority complex on social media.

You guys should stop all these arguments because is not going to help you get the job. Is it today that virtual exam began? They asked you either to choose between cbt/virtual or you can still change from cbt to onsite and some people are still complaining about cheating as if testmi did not know all these things. Some candidates can't even write til now apart from those people that were scheduled to write this Saturday. So if you have written your own just start prayer and fasting if possible and see how God will do his wonder in your life. Some people don't finish their application, and some their application were rejected but God in his infinite mercy allowed testmi to invite them for the exam. Stop complaining about the whole issue because even this life we are living is not BALANCE and is not everybody that is going to get this job, if you are in NNPC or DPR thread you will understand better...nnpc GT has started but their EH are yet to be called (go see how the EH guys are praying) grin grin grin and some of my friends are still expecting DPR APL. Just ask for Mercy, Grace and Favour if you believe in God and all things will come out fine.

Often times, cut off mark is determined by general performance level, if they have a target number of people they want in the next stage

I don't think they'll invite up to 1000 candidates for an interview. And cut off will depend on the performance from our respective states.
Bayelsa will get slots more than any other state, then to be followed by her fellow Niger Delta States and then the rest.
