Omokowa:Did you mean to say that "children should not be indebted to do out of love or should be and are indebted to love? Secondly, as you said, it is truly parents responsibility to cater for their children and I add not parents alone, but the Society. This was the Will of God! However, man is set on being very disobedient to God, and has now successfully disobeyed Him now, speaking generally. Notwithstanding, many parents are doing what they can as within there limits to cater for their children. |

I get all your points and I understand all other opinions... In summary of what I have gathered so far from people's opinion is this... The average parents in Nigeria have high expectations of their children in terms of taking care of them when the kids have grown up and are working, which make parents to invest on their children when they are still agile to do so. Imagine a man gave birth to 7 children and was meant to train them at least to a certain level. Thinking the more the number of his children, the more allowance to enter his account when the time comes. But unfortunately, none of those kids could meet up to his expectations. The economy could not allow any of his children to even be comfortable with their own. Was it out of love or greed? Parents should learn to create a social relationship with their kids first, then show them love by not compelling them to settle for a kind of life that may not go with their ambitions. Like for instance making their children study a particular course which the child may not be comfortable with. Why? To think that that course would fetch money for the family. Am not saying it is wrong to admire good and successful course but, hope there will be no regrets when it does not go the way they expect it. Having a lucrative career does not guarantee that a child will also look after his/her parents. That is why a parent must have a social relationship with their kids, that will not condorn any selfish interests from the parents side. Now, an adult child is faced with two-sided responsibility. His own children if he has one and his parents'. I can not fully blame all negligence on the part of the child, because of so many challenges but, a child who is reasonably enough should know that it is turn by turn. His duty is to care for their parents. You can not do more than your parents have done but the little you can with love, do it. Love is all, from the training of the child to the child acknowledging to reciprocate through that same love. I also plead on some parents to take easy with their kids. Sometimes, they wish they can do more but the situation keeps getting tough. All young parents, learn from the previous mistakes, think about what you will do to at least help yourself in your old days, for you never can tell. Don't stop loving and training your kids and I believe with that love, they will not abandon you when you need them. Pray for our country to be better so that we will not be wined out from this present day frustration. Also my advice, give birth to children you can comfortably train and use the remaining money to secure a business for yourself. When you have so many children to the extent you can not even save enough for any business, you may end up with nothing at the end. Apply wisdom, without expectations you are already secured with your investment. |

Omokowa:The Accurate View is The Mighty Lord, Who is Very Good, had designed the world in such a way that every one is catered for. That is, babies and children have strong grown parents to care for them and later when the parents are old and tired and weak, the parents now have strong grown children to take care of them. Therefore providing for all. The Lord is Indeed Good. So, this is settled! |
