After Belgium withdrawn their peacekeeping force, UN advised Major Gen Anyidoho that in case of escalation of hostilities, He should be prepared to withdraw the UNAMIR (United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda) which he commands. They were not Ghanaian troops. They were made up of soldiers from Ghana, South Africa and Kenya, It was just commanded by a Ghanaian officer. They were never told to withdraw.

BTW, It was a UN mission and they can withdraw it at any time, or who do you think will pay them their allowances and bonus?
