Exhausting your data in the middle of a Google Play Store download can be very frustrating as Google does not include a pause/resume button in its Play Store. Imagine downloading an application of 4GB and your data exhausts at 3.9GB. You will be definitely pained when you realise that you will have to start the download afresh. The following tips can help forestall such an occurrence.
If your data gets exhausted in the middle of a Play Store download, switch off your data and "minimize" the Play Store. You read that right — minimize not close. Secondly, do not clear cache and disable all settings that clears cache automatically (alternatively, you can exempt Google Play Store from such optimization settings). Thirdly, exempt Google Play Store from all settings that close background apps after a while.
Having done the above, you can now switch on your data when you have data available and your download will resume automatically.

Note: If you wish to use the internet without resuming the download, restrict Play Store from using data.

Non of this works for me. Once me data finishes or I mistakenly turn off data connection during a play store download, It will, just cancel.

Maybe it's from your device cos it works on mine.

Or maybe your device clears an app cache once it's pushed to the background
