Thanks so much. I have been thinking Python too . Next Questions sir ?
Is Data Science a lucrative field ?

I'm an Accountant that's why I think Data Science is good for my career and profession, am I right ?

How easy does learning Python makes learning other Languages such as C, C++, Java , JS etc ...

also, is it easy to combine Data Science and Cybersecurity (Infosec) together or just stick to one ?

thanks as you answering !

In Nigeria right now, i don't really think data science is a lucrative field ( i might be wrong).
The only advantage i think is that it will boost your CV is many organizations in Nigeria are looking for those with knowledge of python programing knowledge. you can enroll in w3school (https://www.w3schools.com/) and get a certificate after completing their python courses.

I will talk about the concept of "lucrative field" regarding programing in the last paragraph.

I'm an Accountant that's why I think Data Science is good for my career and profession, am I right ?
Am not going to lie you.. i do not really know much about accountants. I think accounting is all about record keeping and stuffs like that.
I cant answer this part of the question.. Am a physicist..my friends who do data science focused on the aspect of computational physics.

How easy does learning Python makes learning other Languages such as C, C++, Java , JS etc ...
Your fist language if the hardest..others will be easy. All programing language have the same logic behind them. syntax for the above listed languages are similar ( I do not know of JS...hope to learn it someday).

is it easy to combine Data Science and Cybersecurity (Infosec) together or just stick to one ?
Yes.. Cybersecurity and Python fits very well..python also support server side scripting like php which is very useful in Cybersecurity.

As per lucrative fields, it all boils down to your creativity. What can you do with the knowledge you have. Mr A can have all the knowledge in this word and still not be successful. Mr B can have 1/3 of that knowledge and be the world most successful man. Remember it's all about solving problems..creating simpler solution to complex problem. B4 we chart by sending mesages via sms and emails to another..now c how easy charting has become. That's what programing is all about. You look at your surrounding and see what programing your knowledge of programing can improve. I pray someday Nigeria will learn to invest on local developers and promote home-grown solutions to problems. As a Nigerian programs, let programing be your secondary source of income not first..I.e if you are a freelancer. All the best!

Warning:
Which ever language you choose, you going to find alot of material out that might confuse you.

Mind you learning a programming language is not enough but your ability to use the language you have learn to solve everyday program is what makes it fun and brings money.

Language of choice
You can pick any language that best suit you depending on what you want from the language. If you have no particular language in mind I did recommend PYTHON it's simple to learn yet powerful.
Most programming language all share the same building block so the concept your would learn in the first language would still be useful should you decide to switch language.

Avoid programming purgatory
You are going to see alot of tutorials online and if care is not taken all you would find yourself doing is moving from one tutorial to another.

Learn by building projects
You might not start by building the next facebook. But by the third week of learning you should be able to build little project like how to add two numbers. As you progress and gain more knowledge you build bigger projects.

Lastly programming can be challenging you are going to get discourage at some point. Yes it does happen to every programmer particularly when your program is not giving you the expected output. Don't quit Google is always your friend.

Very good points!

What do you suggest for one that wants to learn to develop apps?

For those serious about app development, Java is your best bet for now.

Note: You will need to learn a little bit of server-side scripting language like PHP to compliment the java. This is useful for security purposeses as you will not want to keep important stuffs in your app-based code but rather keep them is the webserver and have them fetch whenever it's needed by the app. Java have modules to do this but most webserver don't currently have support for them.

Visit freecodecamp.org everything you need is there.

You just need internet data.

In 6 months of focused learning you'll reach a level you can start charging for your services
Am not entirely sure that's a good advice. I learnt programming on my own and it wasn't entirely fun.

If need be pay someone to mentor you. With a good mentor your learning pace could be tripled.

Re: How Do I Start Please by Sazeals(m): 11:31pm On Nov 19, 2020
you should probably start with python, but if you want to learn for web development , start with HTML and CSS ,if you are going for frontend only learn only HTML and CSS with little js but for backend learn HTML CSS and python with SQL.
frontend is just the design and the UI you see on websites.
back-end is the interactivity of the site e.g commenting, posting, liking, creating accounts and login.

Who the Bleep need HTML and CSS to learn SQL?

@op
If you are going into database, you can go straight to SQL or oracle.

If you wanna build website like many Nigerians are into, then HTML, CSS, JS/php/django route will be fine.

If you wanna build mobile/window app, options like python, Ruby, java, JS are there too

Python and R for data science. So pick what fascinate you and practice everyday like your CGPA depends on it.

I wish I had the resources and advice you are having now when I was in your shoe

Most importantly, any language you wanna start with, learn the basics first. The complex part are built from the basics.

Know exactly what you will like to do first. Do you want to be a web programmer, desktop applications programmer or mobile?

Here's an unpopular advice:

1. Master algorithms and data structures first. (Know your sorting and search algorithms very well. It will help you in programming for large data sets)
2. Learn basics about database(SQL) and networking. (In most cases, you will need to bind your program module with databases)
3. Learn general programming with perhaps python.
4. Advanced python with datascience or machine learning

You want to kill the poor boy?

Data science, SQL and data structure for a start!

I am not in Lagos though. In my case, I haven't really spent much time practicing cos navigating the software was kinda too tasking for me. So, I took a break whilst searching for an expert to guide me.

Have u been able to bring any character to life at all? Are u in intermediary stage or at beginners level? Don't you think it will better if we get an expert to guide us? I tried watching some videos, but wasn't too impressed.

Java is the Google of computer programming languages.

In other words, it connects you to every other computer programming language you can think of.

Briefly stated: there's hardly anything you can do with any other programming language that you cannot do with Java.

For business analyst, you don't need CSC or statistics infact you don't really need programming per say.

What you need are

1.advanced excel skill(DAX, power pivot and power query)

2. Microsoft power BI

3. Tableu

You can go to youtube and search for "MSTPDA" from mike popular known as excel is fun.

That will give you a strong start for the first 2.
