Sir, my goal is to be able to write good computer programs. I want to learn the skill as it affords me the luxury of doing it as I go ahead with my uni education. I will be able to have a good knowledge of my preferred aspect while at it for now I can't say is web or mobile.

Computer programming is very vast. You must have a target. Knowing your target makes the choice of programming language easy.

If it's just a general understanding of computer programming you seek then go for java first. Later you can add more knowledge from other language.

Java itself is a very big language. It might take you a long time to start doing very cool stuffs with it...Your first language is the hardest, others will come easy.

Advice from personal experience: Time na money..don't rush into any program language. Figure out what you want to achieve (developing apps, web development, data science etc) and carefully pick the right language to begin with. Don't wory much..I'd you like programming very much and want to be successful at it you will end up learning more languages. Learning never ends for a programmer.

you just spoke my mind now, a lot of people are just following the crowd because they hear big names like software developer, UI/UX developer, web designer, etc.

All those things are obsolete in Nigeria unless you are trying to build another type of Facebook or paystack.

Better look into ecommerce, farming, manufacturing and make your cool cash.

It's not obsolete in Nigeria. A lot of Nigerians takes programing the same way the Nigeria education is (half baked). Programmers are problem solvers but you can't solve problem you are not well equipped.

I have taught many computer programming and one shameful thing I see all the time is that people want to learn it sharp sharp. Some will say can you teach me PHP in two weeks (something that took me almost a year to learn to intermediate level..thats not even expert level).

I like your comment in bold. As a Nigerian, we are better of those. You can also combine that with programming or other stuffs to diversify the source of income

Programming could multitasking and time consuming I suggest you should learn how to use 3D Animation Software to create real 3D videos. Using Iclone 7 Autodesk Maya, Unity, Blender to create a 3D videos and start monetizing it on Facebook Page or YouTube

Dude, are u skilled in this? I tried to teach myself animation using blender but I got stuck along the way. If you're good, we can arrange something cos I am very much interested.

Java is the Google of computer programming languages.

In other words, it connects you to every other computer programming language you can think of.

Briefly stated: there's hardly anything you can do with any other programming language that you cannot do with Java.

Lastly programming can be challenging you are going to get discourage at some point. Yes it does happen to every programmer particularly when your program is not giving you the expected output. Don't quit Google is always your friend.

Okay, I'll also check out the software. But I really need someone to guide me. Watching those videos at times can be boring. They just keep going on and on.

Best advice so far. Am using Traversy Media too. The guy is superb. Buy above all, you need to be patience as nothing good comes easily.
