NFF reveals why they can’t sack Rohr as Super Eagles coach

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has admitted they cannot fire Gernot Rohr as head coach of the Super Eagles, because of the cost.

Rohr has come under intense criticism, after the team failed to win any game in 2020.

The Eagles lost to Algeria and played a 1-1 draw against Tunisia in last month’s international friendly matches.

The three-time African champions ended the year with two disappointing draws against Sierra Leone in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

It led to the Minister of Sport and Youth Development, Sunday Dare, hinting that Rohr could be axed.

However, Pinnick insists Nigeria cannot afford to sack the German, especially since he just signed a new two-year deal in May.

“We cannot afford to sack Gernot Rohr. We cannot,” Pinnick said in an interview with NTA.

Rohr has been in charge of the Super Eagles since 2016 and has led Nigeria to the 2018 World Cup with a game to spare and repeated the same feat for 2019 AFCON, finishing in third place.

His new deal expires after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Sometimes, I do applaud Amaju Melvin Pinnick for his brilliant ideas, but allowing this man to be the head coach of the National team for another week just because of a useless clause that could be terminated by the NFF without stress is really laughable.

Melvin is not telling us something...

Sunday Oliseh has taken a swipe at the Nigeria Football Federation for paying Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr four times the salary the football body paid to him or the late Stephen Keshi while occupying the post.

The former Juventus midfielder is also displeased that while the NFF usually held on to the stipends of Nigerian coaches, Rohr’s wages have often been paid as at when due.

Former international Keshi skippered Nigeria to glory at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, and 19 years later, he guided the Super Eagles to their third continental crown. In so doing, the late gaffer became the first-ever Nigerian to lift the AFCON as a player and a coach.

Facts:
- Amaju-Pinnick failed woefully in adding appreciable value to Nigerian football after nearly 8 years as NFF chairman.

- Gernot Rohr is not a good coach and has added little to quality of Super Eagles. In fact, he is killing local football talents in a bid to recruit Nigerians who are born abroad.

- Sacking Rohr will involve hefty contractual compensations, which NFF may not afford now.

- Unless miracle happens, Super Eagles under Rohr will continue to perform below expectations.

There is ups and downs in every situation in life
Still consider those times he led super eagles to victory, failure must be expected in every successful being ,surely he may lead them to victory next time
