I mostly used to ask myself if I had The holy spirit seeing I couldn't speak in tongues. I mostly thought the only evidence of been filled with the spirit of speak in tongues.

I attended revivals where the minister would ask is to open our mouth and the holy spirit will fill us and we will begin to speak in tongues. I did open my mouth but nothing came out.

Until I got the Revelation!!! speaking in tongues is by Faith. The holy spirit won't move your mouth, just as he won't move your legs to walk. You open your mouth yourself and speak as he gives you utterance. Speak!!!!!

it might seem like jargons coming out of your mouth(the devil trying to decieve you mind).....continuing speaking; you speaking the wisdom of God.

The holy spirit won't help you say the words, you say the words yourself, BELIEVING by Faith that you speaking in tongues, and he'll give you Utterance.

Beloved, go on your knees right now, confess your sins, ask for forgiveness. Ask for the Grace to speak in tongues. Then mouth your mouth and SPEAK!!! Trust me you aren't uttering rubbish "God has chosen the foolish things to confound the wise"

If you know by the indwelling Holy Spirit that you are praying to GOD in a tongue, then by all means, continue to worship and glorify GOD.

However, if "nothing is coming out" speak what you understand, not jargon.

The Apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said - "I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue." - 1 Corinthians 14:18-20

Another point about the need for order in the church when speaking in tongues - there should be one to interprete, and it isn't typical for everyone in the church to breakout in forced tongues.

"Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe. Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all." - 1 Corinthians 14:22-24

"If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge." - 1 Corinthians 14:27-29

This is what the Holy Bible says about speaking in tongues!

You're right! But we don't just pray in tongues, we speak, we worship, we sing in tongues. it's not limited to praying.

True bro! The tongue I refer here to is for personal edification.....the one we pray in,that sounds unintelligent. The one you refer to is the gift of the spirit kind....which is speaking in divers tongues(another language), which their must be an interpreter who understands that language or has the gift of interpretation to interpreter.

Sadly, speaking in tongues is not by faith. I am afraid you have adopted the lie that so many false teachers have made popular through their many doctrines which are antichrist in all ways.

Also, it is impossible to be possessed by the Spirit of God and not know of it. He is after all God's own spirit and makes His presence known in more ways than simply the speaking of tongues as many claim.

This subject Is a very delicate matter in the body of Christ, even now. Many believe that speaking in other tongues is not compulsory, or not for very believer.
It's like saying, it's not compulsory for a New born baby to give out that first cry. Everyone need to hear it, it's a sign of wholeness, bodily.
So is speaking in tongues, spiritually.

Trust me, any believer who doesn't speak in other tongues, will be limited. Ask the Apostles. And this only come when I get filled with the Holy Ghost. It's a sign that, I'm filled.

Truth is some don't speak instantly, but as they continue to commune with the Spirit, the burst forth...i know cos I've seen it.

EVERY BELIEVER MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES, especially NOW!

You missed the meaning of the statement " the just shall live by faith". Who are the just? They are the righteous, those who have already been found worthy of being followers of Jesus Christ..those who have made it to the other side of being born again- they are the just/the righteous ones in Jesus Christ. And following the words of Jesus Christ, they live in complete trust and obedience(Faith) in Him.

Those who are yet to be born of the Spirit of God have not been found to be just and so are expected to walk on obedience to get there. I hope you see where your assumption that Faith means praying, singing, speaking in tongues and the lot, is not the way to becoming born of God's spirit. That teaching is not in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Lies!

The fact that anyone even those of the world can do what you did means it's jargons coming out of your mouth and not the Holy Spirit speaking. The world can speak jargons in tongues not in tongues with the utterance of the Holy Spirit.

That's how a lot of jargons is being spoken in the church.

They don't want to wait for the Holy Spirit but they try to help the Holy Spirit, hence they end up speaking jargons more or less.

The Holy Spirit doesn't need anyone's help!

He's the Spirit of God for crying out loud.

If the church at the beginning had not waited for the Holy Spirit before they began to speak in tongues, they would have spoken jargons and it wouldn't have had the effect it had on those of the world who heard them speak in their own native languages.

That the difference waiting makes. The Holy Spirit utterances in tongues makes a difference while jargons in tongues doesn't!

He that has ears, let him hear.
Re: Speak In Tongues by jesusjnr2020(m): 10:29am On Nov 23, 2020
I initially used to speak in jargons because I was misled. But when it became obvious that I was just deceiving myself, I stopped and waited for the Holy Spirit.

It took quite a long while, but when the Spirit of God finally came, it was worth the wait. Though it didn't happen immediately, when He gave me utterances, it was just as it was at the beginning of the church.

His utterances comes in different languages, some I can understand, some I can't.

Apart from the tongues, there's the tangible presence of God as the sound of a mighty rushing wind just as it was on the day of Pentecost.

If I didn't wait, perhaps I'd still be speaking in jargons up till this very day without the tangible presence of God.

It pays to wait!

God bless.

I disagree my bro. "Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness" Rom 3:22 "This righteousness is gotten by Faith in Jesus Christ.....". Our very Salvation is by Faith in Jesus Christ that he died for our sins. A believers journey begins by Faith, hence the 'Just' are those who believe that Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for our lives.

So the Just (believers) shall live by Faith, whether praying, singing or speaking in tongues.

Let me surprise you, jesusjnr2020. Two miracles happened on the day of Pentecost; the coming of the holy Spirit and the distribution of the GIFT of speaking in divers tongues. People think a filling of the holy spirit is usually accompanied with speaking in divers kinds of tongues.

The holy gave that gift on Pentecost to forward the gospel, you realize that what attracted alot of people that day, was the apostles speaking other languages that were recognized by the crowd.

Now ask for grace to start speaking and praying in the spirit/in tongues. Don't try to be intelligent, don't think of the words, open your mouth and speak whatever comes, keep speaking, trust me, it'll be uncomfortable, but continue in your closet.

After one week you'll be amazed at how different and comfortable you feel speaking and praying in tongues.

I think I am the cause or fault cuz, I don't always see myself with such ability. One thing, I didn't put faith in it that I can actually speak in tongues.

SteelMcqueen, with the utmost respect accorded you, please realise that without at all knocking the manifestation of gift of speaking in tongues, it actually, is only some, lazy and indoctrinated Far-I-See (i.e. Pharisees) and Sad-To-See (i.e. Sadducees) somebody, looking for lesser praying effort, that believes that speaking in tongues, especially with using the voice and/or vocal cords, is praying in some mysterious heavenly language. This is shameless lazy and cutting corners manoeuvres praying things.

Also most importantly, are you aware that, Apostle Paul downplays the importance of speaking in tongues? He, Apostle Paul, on record, even said, do not speak in tongues without an interpreter, but this advice and guideline, is false religiously, regularly and openly disregarded during gathering worships and/or prayer sessions like as seen in believers' gatherings. Genuine speaking in tongues, are few and far in between. What we seen happening among penterascals are just sheer tomfoolery

On a scale of 0-9, what score mark, would you give the gift of speaking in tongues, with 9 being the highest possible score of 9/9, 1 being the lowest score of 1/9, 0/9 means, it has no value and 9/9, means it has the highest positive score value. Consider, if you want to rate the gift of prophecy too.

1) Do you know that ''speaking in tongues'' or ''speak with other tongues'' as occurred in the Bible, IS NOT THE SAME AS what is widespread and generally accepted to be the same, today?
2a) Please tell and/or list how many times, speaking with other tongues was/were recorded to have occurred in the Bible.
2b) Please explain why it was necessary that speaking with other tongues should occur when it occurred the X amount times, it did, in the Bible?
3) Please state in one word to three words what was the primary objective or goal for the time(s) that speaking with other tongues occurred in the Bible?
4) Please state, when speaking with other tongues occurred in the Bible, who particularly and notably, it was aimed at, meant for or happened to?
5a) Do you know, who or how many, on the day of Pentecost, spoke with other tongues? (i.e. give the number if not names or identities)
5b) What to your undestanding does ''speak with other tongues'' means?
6) "13Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.
15What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit,
but I will also pray with my mind. I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
16Otherwise, if you speak a blessing in spirit, how can someone who is uninstructed say “Amen” to your thanksgiving,
since he does not know what you are saying?
17You may be giving thanks well enough, but the other one is not edified

What is ''speaks in a tongue'' in 1 Corinthians 14:13 above all about, and also what is "I will pray with my spirit," in 1 Corinthians 14:15 too about?

Most folks open their mouth blabbing rubbish.
Re: Speak In Tongues by Shawl001(m): 7:44am On Dec 02, 2020
Firstly,
Why would anyone sane, want to convey a point, and come out insultive? It's unfair. I went through some posts and I couldn't help but scroll away quickly.
For Christ sake, let's bring forth our points with good manners. We are not hooligans...
You can pass your point and not abuse anyone, or be insultive. It's possible!

This issue has been one of the major issues distablising the body of Christ, till now.
There's a clear distinct between PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT and SPEAKING IN DIVERSE TONGUES.
The former is a sign, the latter is a gift. The gift is not for everyone one, the sign is for everyone who has been filled with the Holy Ghost. You must be able to Pray in Tongues, or in the Spirit.

Otherwise, Bro Jude won't have encouraged us all, "but ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost".
Except you ain't part of the "beloved".
If you are born again, and baptized of the Holy Spirit, you SHOULD pray in tongues. And if you don't, Pls do not abuse or talk bad at those who do. You chose not to.

C'est fini!
