THE BIBLE EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

There are five recorded instances of people receiving the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts, they are: Acts 2:1-4, Acts 8:14-18, Acts 9:17, and Acts 10:44-46.

The verses given record the five instances of people being filled, covering a period of about 20 years, and involved from one to many individuals. Three times out of the five it is recorded they spoke with Tongues and the other two instances infer they spoke with Tongues.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without Faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.”

4. You must not fear: Don’t be afraid of opening yourself up to the spirit world, fearing that something of Satan will come upon you. Luke 11:11-13 says: “If a son ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them who ask Him?”

5. What to expect: You are to expect the Holy Spirit to put supernatural words (Tongues) into your spirit, and then for the Holy Spirit to move upon your vocal organs. The Lord will not force you to speak in Tongues. He will give the utterance, but we have to speak.

6. We must yield: By yielding I am meaning that in your heart you should say to the Lord, “I am asking You Lord to fill me with the Holy Spirit and by Faith I now receive.” We are not to beg, for the infilling of the Holy Spirit is a free Gift; neither are we to continually pray out loud in our own Tongue because one cannot speak in two languages at once.

7. Receive: You must understand that God has already given the Spirit and that it is a Gift and, consequently, the only thing one is to do respecting a Gift is to receive it. So you must say, “I am going to receive this Gift of God.”

So now if you haven’t received, then go through these steps and by Faith receive.

That's the simple process that made the measure of the Holy Ghost those of today have not to be as that which they which were first built upon the Word before the Holy Ghost came upon them had.

The Holy Spirit cannot indwell anyone who has alternate means other than Jesus Christ of reaching the almighty God. Anyone praying to God through any other means is in disobedience and cannot harbour the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

First, you need to acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is a "He" and not an "it". He is a person and not an inanimate object and should be addressed as such.
Second, you need to release yourself to the Spirit. The level of you He has access to determines the level of Him you experience.

I've had a good number but the problem is the time to type them. The major problem i had was i didn't understand what i was going through and at a point i was thinking i was under a demonic attack. When i received the Holy Spirit, i didn't know something like that existed. Infact, prior to then, i was so ignorant about christianity that i laughed at people who speak in tongues. The day it happened i found myself speaking in the tongues in the midst of a worship service. The more i tried to stop it the more it continued, so i stopped fighting it because i was enjoying the calm. "Problem" now started whenbi got home but i couldn't pray with English alone. whenever i want to pray i would start speaking in tongues involuntarily, at this point i felt tongues were indeed demonic to stop me from praying. So whenever i was praying and tongues issue started, i will start fighting hard to stop it. Little did i know i was grieving the Holy Spirit. I was also led to start praying at midnight. Whenever i was praying, my palms will begin to vibrate uncontrollably or i would fall down or feel vibrations. But in His mercy, he guided me to know him. I got to listen to Selman, Enenche, Arome's messages on the Holy Spirit. He also led me to Hagin and Hinn's books. That was how i learnt who the Holy Spirit was. I don't want to talk about the supernatural encounters like the healing and deliverance because of time. But, the greatest lesson i have in all this is, it is Jesus that gives the Holy Spirit but not in the fullest measure because you can waste it if you don't understand what is happening. The parable of the talents and how Jesus didn't allow food to waste after feeding the 5000 explains it. It is just like when you give birth to a child, you start with feeding with milk, then pap before you graduate to fufu. Same as it is here, when you receive the Holy Spirit, you need to develop it by reading about him, next fellowshipping with him in prayers, then learn his voice and how to distinguish his from that of flesh and the devil, next be obedient to his voice. It is after this you will begin to see the full manifestation of casting out demons etc. Even in the bible, Jesus trained his disciples for 3yrs, before giving them the gift of the Spirit. So, i would advise anyone to read about it so that you won't waste it like i almost did.

I can list out the benefits of the holy spirit to you if you're interested.

If you're born again, it's very easy and simple to receive the holy spirit.

1. Hunger for him
2. Yield yourself to him
3 Recieve him, either by laying of hands, by a Christian who is filled with the holy spirit, or you open your mouth and ask.

If you believe Jesus is the son of God, believe also that he died for your sin. Then confess with your mouth that he is the Lord of your life and there you have it, the holy spirit will come into your life.

Your problem is lack of knowledge. Jesus said, "If you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your kids, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him". All you have to do is ask Him to come into your life and take charge. Fellowship with Him through scriptural declarations, fasting and prayer, meditation on God's word, listening to Him, consciously walking in righteousness, and fellowship with the saints. Soon enough, He will start showing up in your affairs, and you will start experiencing His awesome presence in your life, and hear Him speak. He's an awesome companion, too awesome for description.

Ask God that question and patiently await His answers. Unlike others, He won't mislead you.

The Bible is written or spoken in allegories and most things you read are not as literal as they mean. The Bible says Jesus will speak in parables. To you ( true believers), understanding is given. To them ( unbelievers), they won't understand. It pleases the Lord so.

You need God Himself to tell you what they mean. You learn to listen to the holy spirit.

The Academic gurus brainstorm and attach whatever meaning that caught their fancy when they read the scriptures. Some of those books you read too are mere figments of man's imagination and uninspired. Sometimes, it is mixed with real truth though.


Our earthly knowledge and understanding of affairs is a great barrier to Faith.

Upon this Rock (personal revelation of the meaning of God's word) shall I build my church (the real true believers), and the gates of hell ( false preachers/interpreters/ prophets/pastors) shall not prevail. Pastors have misinterpreted the rock to mean Peter.

Another snag is the issue of anointing.
Anointing doesn't take us to heaven. Many anointed ministers working miracles through God's power will still go to hell if they refuse to obey the holy spirit.

The gifts of God is without repentance. People now sell the anointing for money. That's not the original purpose.

Satan had great anointing from God yet rejected. He can still work miracles!

Anointing for miracles is a bait that attract fishes( people) to hear the real word of God and repent and do God's will.

People are no longer after the word but anointing. That's really funny!

If someone else that knows tells you what each word or passage mean you will not still believe until the spirit gives you personal understanding. This is why alone with God is necessary.


Speaking in tongues is just one of the numerous evidences of the presence of Holy Spirit. These signs shall follow them that believe, speaking with new tongues, deliverance from evil, healing, taken up deadly thing/serpent and not be hurt.

Some people spoke in tongues these days and are not inspired by Holy spirit.

Some pastors heal and prophecy and yet don't speak in tongues.

It is not everyone that has the gift of healing.

You can have the holy spirit and yet not speak in tongues. Many of Nigerian general overseers does not buy this concept and so are their members but very true.

The principle of repentance, baptism of water and baptism of Holy ghost is very valid in that order.

The Principle of repentance, baptism of Holy spirit, water baptism is also valid. Each of the elements is deep and not academic. The common denominator and prerequisite is repentance.

For you to have the desire to have the holy Spirit, you probably may have it already. You need more infilling most likely for experiential effect. No man can come to me except my father draws him. The Holy spirit will lead you to all truth. If otherwise, follow the principle. It doesn't require much of your effort. It's a free gift. You don't need to shout or fast too much just have a clear heart ready to follow His promptings. The more you follow righteous promptings the better. Otherwise you will be grieving Him and He may just be quiet all the while.

The Bible is symbolic. You can also ride on the shoulders of spirit filled men to understand some things.

when you receive the Holy Spirit you don't just go around performing miracles. You need to pay the price. Observe that when Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit came upon him in the form of a dove. But he didn't start performing miracles immediately, rather the Holy Spirit took him to wilderness to fast for 40days and be tempted. You see, even though he was a whole big Jesus, he had to follow the protocol of paying the price by prevailing in fasting and prayer before performing miracles. Even the apostles, despite receiving the Holy Spirit had to be persecuted and give to a life of prayer before even their shadow could heal the sick. As for myself, when i received the Holy Spirit, i was led by the Holy Spirit to pray at midnight. Prior to then, i always had malaria every 3months, but it has been months i had malaria or fell ill. Before my child falls ill, i do see myself in my dream praying for his healing, so whenever he begins to fall ill, i pray for him and he receives his healing. So since then, i haven't spent a dime on drugs or hospital bills. I do receive revelations from my dreams unlike before, like very clear and precise revelations, mostly about my family members and people i know, like who is about to die and in what manner, who is about to give birth and the sex, whose financial status is about to change for better. I haven't really received prophesies so i can't say i have gotten the gift yet, but i know i received that of healing and warfare, only problem now is i am pregnant so i can't fast and i find it difficult to pray at night because of my job and condition, so the revelations have reduced.

I know what you mean and i feel the same way sometimes. It's sort of like hearing about something without having experiencing it. You want to feel the holy spirit and know he's there with you and not just imagine he is there. It's like when the bible says things like "you have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and a sound mind" but you feel the fear of the unknown pushing at the edges of your sanity. Sometimes i wish Jesus had never come or if he came he never left (i mean physically). Seeing something is different from imagining it. Let me stop here before i write an epistle....

The gifts and offices of the Holy Spirit is well known as in 1Cor12:1-
These are supernatural abilities given by the Holy Spirit to every believer as He wills for the edification of the body of Christ.

Even though the gifts and offices exist, every believer is supposed and expected to operate in each not necessarily because they have been given the gifts.

Let me explain:
Every Christian is expected to give but not every Christian have the gift of giving.

Every Christian is expected to have faith but not every Christian have the gift of faith.

Every Christian is expected to teach but not every Christian have the gift/office of teaching.

Every Christian is expected to heal but not every Christian have the gift of healing.

Every Christian is expected to prophecy but not every Christian have the gift/office of a prophet.

Just look at each of the available gifts and office, you will see that with or without the gifts, EVERY Christians is expected to operate in each one of them.


Such is Speaking in Tongues which can exist as a GIFT or as an OPERATION. 99% of those who speak in tongues do NOT have the gift of Tongues. The Gift of Tongue is meant to be Understood while the Operations may not be interpreted. This is why if tongues doesn not have an interpretation in worship, then the speaker should speak to himself.

Where in the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven did Jesus Christ tell you that the Spirit of God is a silent partner in your walk?
Also, where did Jesus Christ suggest that to be convinced of the Spirit in You, you need to "claim it"? Stop believing the lies that are doctrines and traditions of men, many of whom are themselves thoroughly deceived. At least learn to check whatever you hear them say against what is in fact recorded as Truth of Jesus Christ in the Gospels.

You forget that those who are recorded to have received the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts, did the work that was necessary for them to in the Gospels.

The Spirit of God is not "A gift" from God, He is instead Jesus's Christ's proxy. Think carefully will you! He is the seal of the New Covenant that is Jesus Christ.

You don't tell Him to come into your life for Him to do so. No, you have to show yourself worthy of Him for Him, of His will, to come into your life. He is not your puppet or your property... He is God and will only inhabit vessels that are worthy of Him, and the only way to become so is to obey the commandments of Jesus Christ. All the fasting, Prayer and meditation in the world will not change what Jesus Christ has said is the only way to become Born of the SPirit of God i.e. Become worthy of Him.

Obedience is the key into the Kingdom of God. Acceptance means obedience of His commandments. No one can become a follower of Jesus Christ simply by wishing for it. Jesus required that those who choose to follow Him do the work that He commands they first do i.e. Obey that which He has stipulated.

1. Be prepared to abandon parents, brother, sister, children, spouse, in-laws, e.t.c.
2. Abandon all that you know/believe, have, and all that you are
3. Bear your own burden (not someone else's cross- not even your family's or children's)

That is a lie... the statement above has no bearing on the words of Jesus Christ Himself. It may be what your pastors have told you but the truth is far from it.

To gain salvation, you simply have to believe in Jesus Christ, and what you get is salvation from the condemnation of sin and death which is eternal life. Being saved is not the same thing as being born again. No, to become born again, you have to submit to the lead of the Spirit of God and obey the commandments of Jesus Christ, the New Covenant. Jesus Christ even made it easy when He set out only about 7 commandments for all those who want to become born again.

Obedience is the key into the Kingdom of God. Acceptance means obedience of His commandments. No one can become a follower of Jesus Christ simply by wishing for it. Jesus required that those who choose to follow Him do the work that He commands they first do i.e. Obey that which He has stipulated.

1. Be prepared to abandon parents, brother, sister, children, spouse, in-laws, e.t.c.
2. Abandon all that you know/believe, have, and all that you are
3. Bear your own burden (not someone else's cross- not even your family's or children's)

when you receive the Holy Spirit you don't just go around performing miracles. You need to pay the price. Observe that when Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit came upon him in the form of a dove. But he didn't start performing miracles immediately, rather the Holy Spirit took him to wilderness to fast for 40days and be tempted. You see, even though he was a whole big Jesus, he had to follow the protocol of paying the price by prevailing in fasting and prayer before performing miracles. Even the apostles, despite receiving the Holy Spirit had to be persecuted and give to a life of prayer before even their shadow could heal the sick. As for myself, when i received the Holy Spirit, i was led by the Holy Spirit to pray at midnight. Prior to then, i always had malaria every 3months, but it has been months i had malaria or fell ill. Before my child falls ill, i do see myself in my dream praying for his healing, so whenever he begins to fall ill, i pray for him and he receives his healing. So since then, i haven't spent a dime on drugs or hospital bills. I do receive revelations from my dreams unlike before, like very clear and precise revelations, mostly about my family members and people i know, like who is about to die and in what manner, who is about to give birth and the sex, whose financial status is about to change for better. I haven't really received prophesies so i can't say i have gotten the gift yet, but i know i received that of healing and warfare, only problem now is i am pregnant so i can't fast and i find it difficult to pray at night because of my job and condition, so the revelations have reduced.
