Go and check two things for me
1. How much does people in those countries earn compared with the prices of things there and here
2. How much percentage of their salaries or earnings is even removed as tax.

I know the government needs the tax but you can't tell someone earning 10k to pay bills of 6k na.

not all businesses pay tax. Not everyone pay tax. We might be paying our tax indirectly though on imported goods. But tell me,in the US or Canada, even if you are a lowlife or gangster,you can't escape paying your tax. Everyone pays their tax. When people pay tax,money comes for development.

Which businesses dont pay tax in Nigeria? Only big known established paddy paddy government men businesses do not pay tax. The roadside market woman is heavily taxed through her nostrils. No one is running from paying tax in Nigeria. If you work, your tax Is deducted before the money gets to you. The tax that is being paid what is done with it?

i don't blame you for this your false assertion, because you don't really understand the level of corruption the nigeria system encourages, through the dubious government officials.
these officials are so crazily greedy that no amount can satisfy their greediness.
of course nigerians do pay taxes of different kinds, but it always end-up in the pockets of few privileged elites.
so no amount of tax payments by nigerians will make any positive impact on the system, except the corrupt tendencies of the elites are adequately addressed and penalties given to the culprits.

previously 5% tax and a slight increament to 7.5% we no hear word.
spain pays 52% while england pays about 40%.
before you bring things like those countries have something to show for, play your part first b4 blaming govt.

FYI...Nigeria's tax to gdp ratio is 5.8% . For the UK it is 33.8%, US...24.3 %

You want US and UK level of road at an income and taax rate far less than the US AND the UK? Where do you think Nigeria would get the money? Another loan.

Because until recently, we were paying for power at N30 and below per kwh. Meanwhile , according to Moghalu it cost N53 to produce that kwh and accroding to NERC, it's cost price for power is N49.

Then add the fact that most people don't pay their bills. In some areas it is as high as 50-60%. People benefiting from power free of charge, thus putting pressure on those of us who pay.

We are selling power at a lloss...so no money to fix and upgrade things. DISCOS have been frequently bailed out by government and by loans over the past six years since privatisation.

Infact what is happening in the power sector is a good example of what goes on when people don't pay their bills, or don't pay enough, yet expect the power sector to work as if everyone was paying.
