So I just started watching Citation and the use of the word "rusticate" kept bugging me. In academic circles, isn't rusticate supposed to mean temporary suspension? |

Rustication is temporary suspension of an individual but I don't blame Alexistaiwo for not knowing because in many universities/schools in Nigeria, they used the word to mean permanent expulsion from the schools. In the uni I attended, when some criminal elements were expelled for cult/robbery activities, the uni used the word rusticated. 5 Likes 1 Share |
