Hello fam.

Recently bought a Nigerian used Acura Mdx. This suv is lovely and fine. But I noticed that it has some transmission issues... Basically, it appears to jump out of drive gear to neutral during motion, such that one will need to re engage the gear to continue the drive. This is a frequent occurrence and its random, I cannot explain why. But when the car is fully engaged, the gear selects perfectly and it's smooth.

I have checked with several mechanics, the problem is this fault doesn't show up when they test drive. Please has anyone experienced this before, your mdx just jumping out of drive gear to neutral? and how did you sort it?

Please help a brother.

I guess your Acura MDX is 04/05 version... That is the problem with that car. I once had an acura TL 2005 and my neihbour had Acura MDX back then. We both sold off my TL for 490k and she sold her MDX for 600k.
Sweet to drive but once the transmission has issues - fogerit cos it barely gets fixed

First things first.
1. Which year is your mdx? Is 2040 model or 2002?
2. Secondly, have you done any maintenance work on the radiator, transmission or shafts of this mdx?
3. Have you scanned the car since you started noticing this issue?

The acura is 2003 model.

All is perfect with the suv except the transmission issue. In fact, since I started using it, there has been nothing to fix... Except this transmission issue giving me some worries.

It's 2003

I think the radiator is perfect, I haven't done any maintenance on the transmission, but I guess the previous user serviced the gear recently and repaired the sensor too.

I tried scanning... Got the error note "something like cylinder misfiring" not very very sure.

Very correct. That car has an history of transmission issue. Check the speed sensor though.

I think the radiator is perfect, I haven't done any maintenance on the transmission, but I guess the previous user serviced the gear recently and repaired the sensor too.

I tried scanning... Got the error note "something like cylinder misfiring" not very very sure.

First thing, drain the oil and use the recommended transmission oil. It should be atf dw1.
Don't use any other transmission oil
Scan the car afterwards.

Scan the car. Your neutral switch sensor may be bad or not properly fixed.
