Osinbajo’s Transparency And Need For Others To Emulate by TheRareGem1(f): 7:27am On Nov 20, 2020
Last night I stumbled on a news report about the 2020 Finance Bill. It was from a press statement issued by the spokesperson to the Vice President. What caught my attention was “slashes import duties and levies, reduces minimum tax, exempt small businesses from TETFUND and other legislations.

The report said the National Economic Council which Vice President Osinbajo chairs was looking at ways of reducing the economic hardship on the people even though as citizens we would have preferred that the government tells the DisCos not to increase electricity tariff. This affects us directly while the revised 2020 Finance Bill affects us indirectly; well that is an argument for another day.

What actually baffled me about the report was that the Vice President did a breakdown of the money in Nigeria federal accounts. I have never seen it before. That a government official will do a balance sheet of finances and make it public.

So I raised the issue with a senior civil servant friend of mine and he told me that since Osinbajo came to office he publishes the balance sheets of the accounts he oversees. He said this is always done at the end of the monthly NEC meetings.

All the anger I had towards the man dissipated. The civil servant said that for things under the care or leadership of the VP, he is always transparent. Although, I cannot very the “always transparent” part but I find this eye-opening and I think it is good for me to share with all Nigerians for two reasons. One, we can monitor the activities of the these accounts and know how our monies are been spent and secondly that we should tell all elected and appointed officials to do same.

I believe that if all those in government were doing this every month then we can know where the money is going to and how it is being spent.

1. Excess Crude Account (ECA) balance as at 17th November, 2020 stands at $72,409,970.48

2. Stabilization Account balance as at 17th November, 2020 stands at N49, 151,181,622.35

3. Natural Resources Development Fund Account balance as at 17th November, 2022 stands at N155, 530,778,234.58
Nigerians shine your eyes.

So amazed how the vice president broke down the Excess crude account (ECA). We are just lucky to have these man as our VP but it's so sadden how some Nigerians don't appreciate him. If we can give him all our supports, Osinbajo will surely transform these country. The man is too good

Osunbande again?

Even when the economy continues to plummet and threatening to crash on our head ever since he headed that economic team.

All previous grammars about ease of doing business blabla were all academic exercises in futility.

This government has failed woefully!

OP, we are still not buying.

I'm sure a particular set of people will prefer criminals like Uzor Kalu, Okorocha et al. over Professor Yemi Osinbajo.. accountability is alien to them, reason their lands remain stagnant with no form of progress or development till date.

Osibanjo is from ogun state, a very close state to lagos by proximity but still, it's nothing to compare to the development of Lagos state.the state is full of brown roofs, bad roads.ritualists are on rampage there, killing and harvesting human organs.he needs to go back to ogun state and develop it before we can handle nigeria to him

You're not making any sense my dear friend.

You prefer Okorocha the statue builder to go and waste Nigeria's scarce resources on building of statues when pensioners in Imo state haven't received their pensions in decades now. Or is it Uzor Kalu the ex-convict that will pocket anything pocketable?

You can't compare Ogun with any state in SE.. the gap is wide

The VP has been an outstanding personality in this administration. Its just quite unfortunate that he alone can't do it all.

Oh please!!!! Develop Ogun State?? Cos he is the Governor? Ogun State is quiet and peaceful. You hear gist and come on here to type gibberish. You can't HANDLE Nigeria to him.

Nothing is there to compare.unless you are talking about the underdevelopment there then we shouldn't be comparing it with any Eastern state cheesy

The Bible says When there is a good leader, the nation will rejoice. Osinbajo is a man of good reputation, he is honesty in all his deed.
