...Angry youths set suspect's house ablaze

An electrician identified as Bright Ebenezer Odi, 33, has been confirmed dead after he was allegedly kicked on the scrotum by one Victor Chiekezi Iwu, at Umueje Obinze in Owerri West local government area of Imo State.

Iwu reportedly kicked Odi in his testicles during a quarrel that ensued between them over a sharing formula of the bride price of one of their sisters who got married on Sunday..

It was gathered that the victim fell down and started writhing vigorously in pains following the kick, and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he died the following day.

Following the the death of the victim on Tuesday, angry youths of Umueje village besieged the suspect’s family house but when they could not find the suspect, they set the house ablaze.

Confirming the incident, the interim management chairman of Owerri West council area, Okechukwu Enyioha, who is an indigene of the community, said he had called security agencies to take over the matter.

The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) for Imo State command, Orlando Ikeokwu, while confirming the incident also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, has ordered the transfer of the matter to the State Criminal and Intelligence Department for an immediate investigation into the incident.
