The problem is lack of forex.
Lack of forex is caused by unwillingness to trade other resources like gold, bitumen, iranium for the dollar as oil is being traded.
If zamfara and co should release their gold and it is sold like oil, there will be plenty dollar to go round and it will crash to even N100 or N50 a dollar.
All this one na grammar u de speak. Lack of forex in Nigeria has nothing to do with gold or bitumen. Lack of forex in Nigeria is deliberate & artificial. D corruption in d CBN& those in govt will blow ur mind. D differentials in d CBN rate & d black market rate is needed& will continuously be sustained in order to ensure that those who have access to and control d nation's forex, can continue to enrich themselves

Meanwhile, major currency also rise not only Nigeria.

All thanks to Uncle Corona
Keep blaming coronavirus because it cannot defend itself.

Buhari promise to diversify Nigeria's economy since 2015. To date, Buhari, who's the petroleum minister, is still financing JVP to prospect crude oil in the north with Nigeria's little savings.

Meanwhile, he keeps borrowing to fund his infrastructure budgets.

I really commend you people who defend Buhari despite his glaringly obvious incompetence.

it's very easy for politicians to predict economy doom for the country considering the huge amount of resources they are squandering unaccounted for on luxuries and living larger than life attitude. just borrowing to mortgage the future of the unborn generation by satisfying Demo and his gangs of rubbers

It is not surprising at all. When you have an army of media aids without any economic adviser, it is bound to happen. If nothing is done urgently, it will go beyond five hundred. You don't manage the economy with propaganda.

Senator Dino Melaye predicted the N500 to One Dollar in 2019. Today it has happened.
What a foolish thread!

He said N500 to One Dollar by May?

First of all, May of which year?

When are we now?

I too predict N600 to $1 in "future".

Oya, come back here in future to worship me.

the problem here is that you might not be able to sell the resources you mentioned above in the same quantity and value as crude oil
You not making sense. Let them sell it first.

I'm afraid this does not sound like a great idea. For how long can the so-called Zamfara gold sustain the entire country?

I think the government should be aggressive with the campaign on made-in-Nigeria goods. Nigerians love to impress others with foreign goods, thereby putting avoidable pressure on the little dollar we have here.

Buhari started well by encouraging people to buy made-in-Nigeria items, but lost focus along the line. He needs to retrace his step; we need to grow our local economy.

Local good? If covid 19 couldn't force an atom of better local healthcare, I wonder what mere human encouragement of local good will do. Commonsense dictates we sell other natural resources. Illegal miners are already selling it, all we have to do is change who receives the proceeds and add it to oil forex which is presently low.
