Actually the last Apollo mission, "Apollo 17" was in 1972.
It became too expensive to continue exploring the moon. That's a year before the gold backed dollar standard was removed by Nixon.

I doubt the feasibility of NASA's plan to return to the moon and set up a moon base by 2024 if they rely solely on Boeing's SLS.

But one can go still go on a Low earth Orbit space tourism or orbit the moon with SpaceX Starship when completed.

The future of space mining will be on asteroids, the Japaness space exploration agency so far have successfully landed a probe on an asteroid and returned samples back to earth.

Probably their next missions will be on the resources-rich-asteroids

U donno how politics work, it's all about money, it's cheaper to send a robot to do the job than to send human.

US reduce NASA budget by more than 80 percent, u don't expect NASA to be as efficient as b4 with such budget cut. For the past 9 yrs NASA has not been able to send anyone to space not to talk of the moon.
But thanks to Elon musk, they were able to send some astronaut to space this year.

When sending a human cost 1 billion and sending a robot cost 2 million, who would u send.
