My last two trips to China, I flew Etihad , I did not use a transit visa to connect from UAE to China...

The person that booked the flight should know better..

I booked my flight myself and I got it way way cheaper (like 200k difference with nice seat).

Guy, if turkis dey open book am o. It's crazy but better than overstaying visa. If he can't get any ticket better go report to the right authority and see if he can extend his Visa in China for a few weeks. Me I no know how China visa dey work for naija passport so I can't say much. But if you see Turkish book it. Any flight with stopover there is OK.

The problem with these route an the time travel.. The route here is approximately 29 to 32 hours if I ma not mistaken...

The only advantage her is the the cheap rate of the fare.

China Southern Airline, Emirates Airlines, QATAR Airways don't need transit visa from China. Qatar Airways will have a stop over in Doha while the remaining two will do same in Dubai. By the way, why can't you fly from Guangzhou?

Hello Nairalanders.....A close friend of mine was to return to Nigeria from china early this year but due to covid-19 pandemic decided to stay back a bit till everything was clear...

Fast forward to now after booking for his flight ticket which has a stopover in hongkong,he was denied boarding a plane in Shanghai cos he doesn't have an hongkong transit visa which he never knew of or told and his visa expires in 3days and getting the hongkong transit visa takes 4 weeks.....

Please experienced nairaland travellers and guys currently residing in China, please what countries can he has stop-overs or connecting flights to that doesn't require transit visa... .

Pls help urgently so he won't overstay his visa or have issues with Chinese authorities because he is operating under a low budget after expending so much to exorbitant flight tickets rates and other Chinese authorities wahala....

A transit visa is if you are leaving the airport i.e outside the airport. If you are to catch thesame flight that brought you from China you dont need a transit visa,but if you want to leave the airport then you'll need a transit visa.
The summary of all get Ethopia airline or Turkish airline, even if it is Lufthansa, in as much is Lufthansa that ll bring you to Naija then you dont need a transit visa.

I've had connection flights in Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Doha. I didn't need a transit visa in any of those countries. So check Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, or Qatar Airway and you're good to go!

The question should be ,which airline did he use while going..he should have also use thesame airline while coming back...nigeria to china is one of the longest hour flight when u talk of distance...i used Kenya airline..nd i can't remember applying for a transit visa..contact an agent or google it out

If he is unable to leave China before his VISA expires, he can approach his school to help him get his VISA extended for 60days only. There are 2 options here, the police or immigration. Within this period, he should arrange for his exit.

As for the airlines, what happened to Ethiopia Airways, Kenya, Rwanda, Qatar, Turkish, Etihad? These airlines do not need transit VISA for Nigerians.

He/She is stepping out of the airport to catch another flight, that was the reason for the transit visa. It is always better to pay more some times to avoid all the long stop overs, transiting from one airport to another.

With Ethiopian airline, he doesn't need a transit visa when they stopover at Addis before heading to Nigeria.

He should take a ferry from Shenzhen into Hongkong airport. ( Just 1 hr ferry ride)

The ferry ride takes him into the Hong kong Airport

Turkish airlines can only transit in Istanbul because they fly with Turkish flag and not British flag, unless if they are working with British airways. As long you have a through pass to your bcountry of destination you don't need a transit visa for Turkish airlines.
