Yes oh, getting my car to start after parking it for a while really opened my eye. I lost alot of money on a issue that was suppose to cost about 15k I spent over 30k. Right now I just need to fix the remaining issues and hit the road so I can take my share from December rush

This your benz you once praised to be one of the best for the job, is gradually turning you to a road side mechanic bro.

Since the ease of the lockdown, how many drivers here have been sick from covid 19 due to the amount of people you meet everyday, week, month?

You are a real business woman not the one that feels like God. People that feel like God hardly succeed in business and I can say jpworld didn't just hustle to make money to buy cars he is giving people either on hp or Rentals, maybe he sold his father's land in village and came to invest it on the transportation business.

You can as well sell ur father's land to invest and bring the rent to 10k weekly.

radautoworks: is a very smart business woman and a very good politician.

Some of our big politicians today, are the ones that pretend to liberate the masses 20years ago. Today they're in politics and they're the new oppressors.

radautoworks is super rich have drivers at heart, do plenty give away, yet she won't invest in just 5 cars, so drivers will be coming to give testimony of how she has bless their life, by buying a Corolla 2.2m and giving out on 15k rental.

radautoworks: goes to Alibaba buy those cheap scanner for 4k then do give away to 6people, in return sell those scanner for 25k? If u want scanning services, she will charge you scanning fee of 5k, that is very smart.

In Nigeria people that are brutally honest are tagged the devil, 13 drivers work for me, 10 of them has been with me for over a year, so wat are the things i need to learn from hoodlum drivers? Surrender my car for palliative?

There is no owner that has not been cheated of rental fee, even with 10k weekly, infact is unaffordable, but with strict measures u will minimize it. Cheating owner of rental fee is common practice in this business.

I always give my opinion on how it works for me, I'm a believer of Corolla, i have been with Corolla for 4years plus i only try 1 Honda, after dru23 talk much about it, at the moment i will continue to stick with Corolla. If i see a good honda deal, i can try 1 more

In mechanic industry ur services are the most expensive, to compare wat other mechanics charge, but you still have customers prioritizing u.

For example i change oil and filter b4 with 500naira, but now they collect 1000naira.

I change brake pad with 1000naira, will you charge the same? Tie rod socket, ball joint set, my mechanic charge 1000naira. Infact is bc i understand Corolla functions better i stick with Corolla.

If elumelu a billionaire can fire 2000 people during lockdown, i will do the same for my business to survive.

Just as ur services are premium, you didn't force anybody to use, same as me, if you like my conditions work wity me, if not the exist door is open.[/quote]

I think we spoke before , we use to deliver oil to you and you use to buy alot.. And u said u had a Honda civic that you bought tokunbo and it gave you hell.

You stated that you will continue to stick with Corolla .. A tokunbo car has always been the best choice for ehailing. A tokunbo car can maybe last up to two years on ehailing, no matter how well you maintain the car it will get to a point that you will need to sell it ... so am wondering when that times comes, would you sell the Corolla and get another Corolla? Or would you drive the car to the ground and than sale it ?

Now if you than decide to sell the car to get another car . Would it be naija used or Tokunbo? If it is naija used than you taking a gamble.. And if it is tokunbo, would the cost of tokunbo worth it for u.....

My point here is for any investors going into uber for the long haul .. My advice is to get a tokunbo car good enough to do the job with the most minimum maintenance cost..

And cheap enough to the point that when is time to sell of the car ,you would have made enough money to buy another tokunbo car.. You can't try that business model with a Corolla . It will not make any business sense. And it will not make business sense to sell your uber car to get a naija used 1.. It is like hustling backwards, but with the Honda Civic you have that capacity to do that. A Corolla can buy 1 Honda Civic and change will remain. But both cars are bringing in the same income..You might say the real sell value of Corolla is better depending on the condition of the car.. But the Civic still the best choice because it was bought cheaper the Corolla..

How will drivers net or gross 800k in 2 months? Is he working 24/7?
Is every month December?.

Please don't even give his arguement any slight possibility. He's free to increase his remittance to 35k or 40k, any willing driver will take it, but saying drivers save 800k in 2 months is a big lie and even an insult to hardworking drivers.

I have read all your posts on this thread and today I'm going to address them.

This is why "Nigerian workers are bad". Bosses/owners make them so.

You obviously don't understand it costs more to find and retrain a new employee than it does to retain an old one. Same as customers. You obviously also don't understand what it takes to build LOYALTY and employee buy-in/ownership in your mission.

The companies that started fresh are struggling with new employees. Not to put my business out there but I made sure not to let ANYONE go during lockdown (even the ones I was thinking of firing before). I informed them because there was no income I could only afford to pay 40% and they were okay with that. How? FROM PROFITS WHEN THE GOING WAS GOOD. I prioritized their safety and opened later than other businesses. It was the employees who insisted they would take the risk and go to work until they couldn't. THEY came up with a plan where they took turns running a skeleton crew. Why? I was thinking of them and in turn they thought of me. They understand we are a TEAM through the good and the bad.

During lockdown they did everything they could to stay open or continue doing business quietly. Guess what? EVERY MONTH SINCE SEPTEMBER THEY HAVE BROKEN THE PREVIOUS SALES RECORD and IN MY ABSENCE! They are currently posting numbers almost DOUBLE what they posted before all the katakata started. Their productivity is through the ROOF and my complaints/mistakes are the lowest they've ever been, even with the ones I was considering firing. I have been contacted by other frustrated businesses owners asking what I did to make my employees so loyal as they tried to poach them repeatedly and they won't budge. I just tell them I treat them like I like to be treated. Even one of the so called "bad NL Uber drivers" now works for me and can testify to this if he chooses to reveal himself.

So please stop coming to this thread to insult and demoralize people trying to make a living. Create an Uber owner partner thread where you can criticize, insult and advice all you want and no one will bother you but savvy business man you are not in my opinion.

That's all the energy I have for your matter.

Been waiting for the opportunity to put this out there, but didn't know if you'd want me to or not ma.

I have been under your employment for about 6 months, and I must say, its been an amazing journey. Yours is the  kind that is extremely rare to find. You're not a part of them, you do not do things like them, you're different, you give so much motivation, love and energy to your employees, such that your customers and the world at large, could see your person through us.
Its been love from day 1, up until this minute.

Who keeps her chauffeur even though she's been out of town for a very long time? The young man just dey enjoy him (no)work. Maybe JP  for don fire am, one month before departure, with the intention of hiring another when he gets back.
He said to me today "bro, as a driver, I never get any reason to stay anywhere for two years, but since I come here, na so oh...na love oh, we are a family here."

You're approachable and infact, always there. You're so near, yet so far away.

All your employees, from RadAuto to RadRentals, to your domestic staff, are more than satisfied and they feel more than blessed to have you as their boss.

Your energy on the phone is contiguous, comes with an infectious smile, e go cheer even the saddest person back to life.

I'm grateful for the privilege to serve under your employ. You have my loyalty 100percent.

I see RadAuto taking over the automobile mechanic industry in the nearest future and I'm willing to continue to be a part of that success.

I do not think there are two of your kind.

You turned 2020 around, for me especially.

Pray earnestly for a #BossLikeRad

I'M GRATEFUL MA.

In response to jpworld's comment about the giveaway, you still don't get it.
First, you're wrong about the scanners. Second, even if the scanners cost N500 it's not about the money. It's about what helps people. I could have given out cash but how would that help people or my mission? Cash would be gone quick but the scanner lasts as long as the car and helps many.

Mr JP do some self reflection and realise EVERYTHING ISN'T ABOUT MONEY and I guarantee you will have a better quality of life.

EDIT: 17. 17 scanners grin

Whenever you close your eyes and open your heart to pray to God, do not forget to ask for the principal thing, which is Wisdom.
Some would pray to have money, forgetting that it takes wisdom to multiply it and when the money finishes they go back to God to ask for more (lack of wisdom)

I am not here to preach, but in a country where the leaders are not making it easy for us, everyone is looking for ways to cut corners, if you find someone who is LOYAL, Honest, you need to appreciate that cus it is not easy.

Just recently, i had a business transaction with a friend, I transferred the cash to him, we got the items, did one or two and we made profit from it. I didnt oversee the transaction as I left everything for him to handle.
Now this is where it gets interesting, when he gave me the breakdown on expenses he made (not the first, second or third time I have experienced this with him), he inflated almost everything, yet we shared the profit equally despite me putting a larger % of the capital. Well I kept quiet. Keeping quiet doesnt make me a fool or less of a man, I chose to ignore. He isnt honest but I still need him

Why am i saying this :

In Business, everyone cant adopt same model, some decisions will be driven by personal experience while some maybe emotional or sentimental attachment.

JP, whatever business model u have chosen, good for you. Your decisions are as a result of making this basically your major source of income (maybe) and you are trying to protect it, I understand that as well, even the bible says where your treasure is lies your heart. The issue alot of people are having with you is the fact you try to shove your model down our throat and make it look like it's the best decision so far. Your fire brigade method might indirectly be taking away something from you, you may not notice it now but in future it prolly would get clearer.

Kudos to everyone contributing positively, you guys are doing well.

Whether you give hard target or cold target to drivers.. More than 50% will wreck the car ... This is a tough business.. Partners will have to determine what will work for them.. What works for dru23 might not work Sam89 ...Drivers don't care .....

Below is my civic 03 .. There this particular driver that I took the car from. This driver at the time had no place to leave . I got him place at the time for close 200k naira . He was sleeping and eating in the car. So out of pity we got him a place .. They guy started good and was delivering. And is rental was 25k naira when others were between 25k to 30k... we trusted him and when it is time for oil change will just give him the oil...... It got to the point that he was no longer delivering.. Last last we went to the house we rented for him and collected the car.. I had to spend about 40k naira to put the car in order for next driver....

We now find out the car we give him has sludge picture. Full synethtic oil should not have any sludge ,my other cars do not have sludge .. Ever since I started importing my own oil ,I never had sludge.. What happen is more than likely the driver was selling the imported oil we gave him and than buying 20w50 oil for the car. Out of respect we didn't feel we need to tell him to bring back the empty gallons of oil we give him ......

So my point here my brother this business is a doggy eat dog business.. Drivers don't care and so partners have to be strict . So I don't blame strict partners that are either strict or more strict than JP.. Based on experince you have to structure how you run your business...... I will not sugar coat anything.. With me once I give a car out and I know am giving you a good deal.. Once you start to mess up , I will use style collect my car ..before na shout up and down etc.. Now I just dey calm and cool....That same driver now is more than likely homeless now.. He called few times begging etc.. But me I no send am .. We move make he go find partner that will do 100% maintenance and deliver below market rental....... Days of me shouting up and down at drivers was over long time.. You can recall 1 driver was saying I didnt give him notice before I collected my car from him etc .....this is tough business

This one weak me dru.

Felicity0001 was given a car for 10k a week during lockdown, during that period he traveled to Benin and Ondo state 5times. Is not about cheap rent. Some drivers are hoodlums, they will loot you and reck you, and you are one of them.

Point of correction sir, I'm not a driver and calling me a hoodlum is an insult to me (no vex).

Please sir If you think no driver is worthy of your Tesla cars, drive them alone, or, maybe your family members are trustworthy to deliver or you park them. You can't have what you condemn, you can't have a good driver when you're condemning them. Yes, drivers are one of the most difficult set of workers to manage, but I think diplomacy pays.

I can't imagine how people come here to condemn drivers, yet the same drivers are serving them. If you have a bad driver, deal with him as a person instead of generalizing it because there are good ones out there.

your recruitment process determines the kinda driver you'll get.

@Felicity matter: wasn't the car tracked? Did he use GSM/GPS jammer to freeze the tracker? This one weak me.
Oya, Felicity0001 come and defend yourself, were you working with NCDC?

Majority of Nigerian drivers still find it difficult to understand that cars fitted with engines below 2.4 aren't meant for highways/long distance journey. The RPM of a v6/v8 (or more) engines at 140 are far lower than that of an i4, More cylinders = lower RPM, less vibration, etc. A Toyota Corolla traveling above 100km/h burns more fuel than a Toyota Camry traveling at same speed. This's wickedness in high places.

Well that is transport business for you .. You have to monitor at least try to monitor from driver to mechanic when it comes to repairs ... Will continue to enforce opening the gallon of engine oil before we give it to anyone to do oil change..... The Civic still runs ok but will do engine flush on Monday or so . We bought Liquid moly engine flush from a nairandlander ..And I read great reviews about it online.......civic engine are very strong ..

I thought you have a mechanic that services your cars? Opening the container doesn't stop them from selling the oil, it takes a thief to buy from a thief. You need a mechanic sir. When the cars are due, let them go there for servicing and repairs.

Dru is a nice guy, I'm glad one bad egg didn't make him change his mind.

That engine will need total overhauling.

The car runs like nothing happened, but will not wait till something before attending to it .. The Liqui engine flush cost 3k naira . Easy to use and YouTube reviews were great.....

Unfortunately the mechanic we were using at Ladipo pass away about 1 year ago or so .. He died under weird or maybe preventable illness .. Some said it was jazz etc me I don't know.. While he was sick we notice certain things he was hiding from us came out .. I was upset at him when the truth came out. And I was planning to spark for him and let him know how unhappy I was with him .... But he died shortly after that.. It was a sad situation.

This particular Civic with sludge was given to the first driver as tokunbo.. He drove the car for at least 1 year plus. All we did was oil change and basic maintenance. When we forcefully took the car from the driver is when we did any repairs .. The repair cost was roughly maybe 50k naira or so .. We had to take steering rack from another tokunbo civic that have not put on the road yet for this red.. But since than the car is very ok and low on maintenance..

The civic mechanic specialist I used in the past was just useless.. He seems to be very good ,but you have to chase him around to do his job.. It got to a point I felt I was begging him with money to do his job.. I no get time ,so from time to time I use Ayo Bishop to do small repairs here and there.. Once you get a very good civic your repair cost is down ..

But with any car it boils down to finding the rite mechanic for the Job... So for now I don't have an official mechanic, once I can do the basic maintenance on the cars , mechanic visit will be less or just basic fixes that any blind mechanic can attended.. Sometimes it sounds simple, I once had a mechanic in front of me empty a whole 5quart of oil into the engine without checking the oil level.. The car had too much oil inside, something so simple can become disastrous for your car.....

I think we spoke before , we use to deliver oil to you and you use to buy alot.. And u said u had a Honda civic that you bought tokunbo and it gave you hell.

Yes bro, we spoke plenty of times, always buying oil from ur wife.

I only do tokunbo cars, use them for 2years and sell. Naija use in this business will be a very horrible business decision for any investor.
