‘Our countries share historic ties’ – Buhari congratulates Ghanaian president on reelection

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana on his electoral victory.

Akufo-Addo, who ran under the platform of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), polled 6,730,430 votes to defeat his main challenger — former President John Mahama and candidate of NDC — who secured 6,214,889 votes.

In a statement on Thursday, Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, quoted the president as appealing to other contestants to put national interest above personal and partisan considerations as well as maintaining peace.

While noting that Ghana and Nigeria “share close historic and cultural ties”, Shehu said Buhari looks forward to working with his Ghanaian counterpart in bringing peace, security and prosperity to the citizens of both countries and the ECOWAS at large.

“The president commends the people of Ghana on the successful conclusion of the presidential and parliamentary elections, attesting further that with the right institutions and political leadership, constitutional democracy in the West African sub-region has come to stay,” Buhari said.

“The Nigerian leader wishes President Akufo-Addo a successful new tenure, peace and stability in his country as well as improved bilateral relations.”

Is he not ashamed to congratulate somebody that won a free and fair election because Buhari is an election thief and therefore an illegitimate interloper in power.

In Trump's voice, "He stole the election".

We shall never forget how a war ravaged state like Borno had a more voter turnout than Lagos.

Humn! Share which "historic ties" did Ghana & Nigeria share? Guess these were the same "Ghana must go" people Buhari government chased out of Nigeria in 1984 only for them to go back & revolutionalized their country?

Does Ghana have irresponsible leadership? Nope! Does the Ghanian president hides himself from his countrymen as Bubu is doing? Nope!

Did Buhari saw how Ghana demonstrated to Africa what it means to conduct a peaceful election with the election they had 2days ago? So Nigeria & Ghana are just on different pedestal of development hence never on the same level.

I'm sure he has a congratulatory messsge collection written down for him to dish out to people whenever the need arises.. That's why he's always so quick to come up with it.

He had to write his speech himself during the #Endsars protest that's why it took him 2 weeks to come up with ~~something~~ crap
