A 10-year-old girl, Binta Shehu, on Thursday, drowned into an open well in Yanka Tsari, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to HumAngle, the deceased had gone out to fetch water for her family in the night when the incident happened. The Spokesperson, Kano State Fire Service, Sa’idu Muhammad, confirmed the incident.

He stated that the victim was rescued and later confirmed dead.

Rest on young lady..the reason is obvious...how some people can't find solution to some impending death trap is disheartening....

Look at the very treacherous well she was sent to fetch water. The local government chairman or councilor could not install a borehole in that area. This country is truly cursed.

Even adults could drown in this horrible ditch, not just kids!

Can't even picture myself standing beside this ditch not to talk of standing over it and actually fetching from it!

I don't think everything is government, see the open ditch call well

Is that the level of poverty and stupidity in the North, are they simply too poor to build brick around the death trap? They better prepare their graveyard for more burial because even their village head will soon fall inside that ditch
