This is the exact true story of the ikwerre, but, why should we divulge the truth to them, what will we use to cure hbp, ontop say na the Tory wet their papa tell them, still remember the time when I dey primary school, Dem tell us say na zik hold the key of river niger, India beat Nigeria 99 vs 0, So much for elders tales.
lolz funny you

Both father and son; Akalaka even though they assimilated into the Benin way of life where they were resident on trade, never forgot home. Infact they were never accepted fully and when Akalaka was returning home, the bini culture never came back with him. This is why with all the uproar and promotion of the bini ikwerre connection, an unbiased observer would wonder how come there is no single trace of bini culture in the present day ikwerre way of life. Distance is not a factor here. Yoruba and Igbo slaves and their descendants in far away, US, Jamaica, Cuba Haiti and the carribean nations have somehow managed to retain even to tiny degrees their various cultures in these nations. Things like culture, language and customs don't easily get eroded completely like that.

Who was Akalaka father ? From what part of upland Igbo clan did he originate from and where did he migrate from to Bini to trade. Onitsha/Aboh /Nri/ Akwa axis most probably.
These are questions Ikwerre historians should be asking and researching on and quit this bini connection thing.

NnaGbaharam:
It should be Leadership not Darkness
Ochichi is not leadership but governance or darkness. In Igbo lingo, a word can translate more then one thing. For example, Ochichi wee gbachie na obodo ndi Aruu. Ochichi Okoronkwo adighi nma. Some communities will say Ochichiri another will say Ochichi

I also believe akalaka's mother is not igbo, during that period their were many groups under the control of Benin kingdom. A100% igbo seed like the mainland Igboes and some Delta Igboes cannot be so cowardly and afraid of herders from futa-jalon, to frightenenly attach himself to an ethnic group he has no single cultural connection to whether by language or tradition. Although their amongst them, some who still show that they are from the loins of akalaka's father.

This by far the most useless thread I have seen. A group of people trying so hard to eliminate any trace of their history and lineage because of Oil and the fact that Igbos have been the scape goat of Nigeria.

Mr OP is not like I'm trying to teach you your job but the part where you said that ikwerre was asked some questions by the Igbo man mediating for the white and they answered "Ekwerulem" which is Igbo and where you later said that they learnt Igbo after being forced by the eastern region does not match.
Please work on that one.
The story should be spotless
You are seeing the igbo language as the right of eastern NIGERIA. The Igbo language has lots of sub dialects across the igbo speaking people from Congo, Cameron etc, have you wondered why someone from owerri can not hear abakilike. Person speaking? These tribe group mentioned is the only people in Rivers State with the Igbo dialects. There's nothing like general igbo, every igbo speaking group is only trying to be understood by other groups by joining different pronounsing words. Eastern NIGERIA is not custodian of igbo language in NIGERIA. By record most tribe in the east arrived NIGERIA late.

You are at the tail end of this discussion based on the intellect. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not an Igbo leader. You represented Nigerian academic system perfectly.

Please before you take a wild trip on illiteracy, it will be nice for a so-called literate such as you to put your post in a correct grammatical form.
