Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Shoots Medical Doctor In The Back At Ogoja, Cross River State (Graphic)

A medical doctor identified as Dr. Njoku was shot by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Ogoja, the Local Government Area of Cross River State. HGS Media Plus reports

HGS Media Plus reports that the incident happened on Sunday night, 13 December at about 7:30 to 8:00pm local time.

HGS Media Plus gathered that the victim, Dr. Njoku is the Medical Officer in charge of St Benedict Tuberculosis and Leprosy (TBL) hospital in Moniaya road, Ogoja.

According to report gathered by HGS Media Plus, Dr. Njoku came back home from the hospital when two suspected Fulani Herdsmen with pistols approached him from a bush around his house.

They asked him to lie down on the ground, then later asked him to follow them into the bush were their leader was waiting for them.

According to the victim, he said he knew that if he had followed them, he might not come out alive and that he didn't have anyone to pay his ransom for him.

He further said that he attacked one of the herdsmen and they started fighting. The other one ran towards them and shot him in the back.

He said that he ran towards the road and started stopping cars but the gunmen followed him and started shooting at the cars. He however crawled through a gutter into a school compound were he was able to make a call for help.
