I commend the numerous projects embarked by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state especially the fly over construction going on. One is completed and four more is still under construction. The one in Rumuokoro is near completion.

Few weeks ago, the Governor announced a curfew in the Rumuokoro area apparently to allow the completion of the fly over construction going on there even though he said it was because of cult activities.

For a few weeks now, shops around that area are locked up. Traders who depend on it as a means of their livelihood are no longer able to do their businesses.

Besides, it is in festive period like this that traders make good sales and meet up with their responsibilities.

It is true that street traders made it difficult for the construction workers to complete their work but it is not enough reason to punish those who have shops and doing their businesses legitimately.

What the Governor should have done and can still do is to guard the construction area with security personnel and ensure all street traders do not sell close to it.

How does he expect families whose only source of income is in that lock up shop to feed, pay their rent and meet other obligations? The petty street traders who caused it will simply move their goods elsewhere to sell. But shop owners who didn't do anything are the ones suffering.

Please Governor Wike, let those who have shops do their businesses. They have families to feed. The hardship in the country is already unbearable and you have made it worse.

Remember, you were voted in to make lives better and not bitter for Rivers people.

Even the Oil mill market which has been shut down should be opened.

Well meaning Rivers State people should please add their voices to this plea. I don't have any shop there. I am not a trader but I feel the pains countless thousands of traders are going through right now in that area.

How do families who depends on their businesses feed if their shops are closed.

The people affected are in thousands. Even when their shops were opened, meeting up with daily challenges were not easy.

Nobody is happy over the decision even the Governor, but my brother to be sincere, the attitude of all traders around that Rumuokoro area is so unbearable...now let me prove my point, go to Omachi Junction, where they are currently doing their business now, and see how dirty that place is, this was what they were doing until Julus Berger wrote to the Governor to help them.
The question I want to ask you is, is it only in Rumuokoro that flyover is currently being constructed, so why always Rumuokoro?, This is to tell you that people in that area has something substantially wrong with their attitude towards the construction company and their work.
I stay around this area, and I know how we were virtually finding it difficult to move by foot, not to talk of driving because of the activities of these traders, so we have to all endure it while it last.
Mind you nobody is happy....I treck to my church every Sunday because of this action, but what do we do?, Instead of the construction equipments will fall on people let's endure, because when a diseaster will occur there now, they will say the govt has used people for rituals.

I know what you are saying. The people suffering it are owners of shop who didn't cause the problem. This is my point. Now the people who caused it are still going on with their businesses but those who are innocent are the ones being punished.

They should just map out restricted areas around the construction site and arrest those violating the order.

Besides, what is happening is failure of government. The government is supposed to build new markets and expand existing ones as trading is one sure way jobless Nigerians can earn a living.

They are not creating jobs and the only way most of these jobless Nigerians can survive is trading. Some of them are graduates. So, the government still take the bulk of the blame.

Population is growing daily but the industry is not growing. Rather, existing ones are folding up.

Generally, our present set of leaders lack ideas that will move this nation forward. They are just after their belly.
