Here is the lady's video that went viral

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r16mQZI9VnE

Response:

The President of the alumni association addressed the community on the matter.

The alumni Association processes transcripts.

Update on Complaints Video

During the early hours of yesterday, 15 December 2020, the urgent attention of our community was brought to a complaint video recorded by an Eagle referencing delays by Covenant University (CU) In processing her transcript request despite her making payments twice for processing since July 2020. The video has since become viral on various social media platforms.

We all know the danger of only listening to one side of the story. So we, the Executive Council, would like to use this opportunity to state the facts, reiterate our support for all Eagles globally and more importantly, inform everyone on the right channels for requests and issue resolution.

The Alumni Secretariat operates a transcript facilitation service (among other services) for Eagles, aimed at ensuring quicker turnaround time and convenience for our community. We (the Alumni Secretariat) received an initial transcript request and payment from the Eagle in question (applicant► on 10th September 2020 and the transcript was physically delivered to the receiving organization on 25th September 2020.

On 26th October 2020, we received a follow-on request from the applicant, and she was advised on 27th October 2020 on the documents required to fulfil that request. On 9th November 2020, the applicant made a separate payment for these other documents (Certified True Copy of her certificate and an attestation letter).

Due to some information mismatch on the form sent, the request could not be processed until an updated form was obtained from the requesting organization. We received this updated form from the applicant on 2nd December 2020 and a scanned copy of the processed form was sent to her on 9th December 2020, with a promise to dispatch all the documents on 14th December 2020.

The documents were dispatched on 14th December 2020, the applicant was informed and she acknowledged with thanks. It was therefore very surprising that we woke up to a video of the applicant accusing Covenant University of refusing to release a transcript since July.

Covenant University Alumni Association (COMA) would like to remind our community of our commitment to ensuring our support services and initiatives are rendered with excellence In facilitating the attainment of each Eagle's dreams. Asides digitizing our services for efficient processing, the Secretariat also works very closely with the relevant University departments to ensure better service delivery.
Please note that neither Covenant University nor the Alumni Secretariat will demand double payment for a service. We encourage you to use only official channels for your requests, so you do not fall prey to ill-intentioned people. We remain committed to serving all members of our community and empowering them to soar. We also remain committed to upholding the reputation of the University by being worthy ambassadors and flag-bearers.

For information on the official channel for any of our services, please visit our website: https://alumni.covenantuniversitv.edump./. Our helplines are also available for enquiries and complaints.
Thank you and we look forward to a seamless and prosperous 2021 ahead. Yours in building an Alumni•For-All,

President, Covenant University Alumni Association For the Executive Council

Event Timeline:

Sep 10 - Your transcript application was submitted (form + payment + service charge payment)

Sep 11 - The CU Alumni (CUALA) office helped you to then submit the application to CU Academic Affairs

Sep 22 - The Academic Affairs dispatched the transcripts for American Law School

Sep 25 - Transcripts delivered to the Law School

Sep 25/28 - Correspondence between applicant and CUALA - tracking number shared etc

Oct 12- Law school tells applicant the transcript they received doesn’t have the exact date of graduation so it’s invalid

October 26 - Applicant forwarded email from Law school to CUALA, copying VC, Regsitrar saying that Law school needs a transcript with exact graduation date (e.g., July 7 2007)

Oct 27 - CUALA discussed with Academic Affairs about how to handle this. They decided to send a Certified True Copy of her certificate which carries the exact date graduation date and sign an attestation letter to the law school. CUALA communicated this to applicant on the same day. CUALA did not charge a service fee for this.

Nov 9 - Applicant paid for Certified True Copy of certificate (CTC) + attestation form signing + courier charges and attached a copy of the law school form to be signed by Academic Affairs. She also copied VC, Registrar on this email

Nov 9 - CUALA takes print out of form to Academic Affairs for signing. However the form had her married name instead of her maiden name so the records didn’t match and so Academic Affairs couldn’t sign the form .

In the meantime, the CTC was ready to be sent, but to avoid double courier charges, it was pended.

Nov 17 - CUALA communicated to applicant that law school needs to send a new form with her maiden name

Dec 2 - Law school sends updated form with her maiden name. CUALA prints out and takes to Academic Affairs for processing

Dec 8-13 - Shiloh week so CU mail room and other services are closed

Dec 9 - CUALA confirms to her that the law school letter has been signed and scans a copy to her as evidence

Dec 14 - CUALA confirms to her that both the CTC and signed letter have been sent to the mail room and are ready for dispatch. She acknowledges and thanks CUALA for the help.

Dec 15 - Viral video is released of her calling out CU and complaining that her transcript wasn’t processed.

The way she narrated the matter as though there was a grand conspiracy within the university to hold her transcript! Yet they were in full communication with each other as regards the cause of the delay.

That was a serpentatious behavior.

There's no problem with calling the university out for maybe slacking. But saying you requested in July when the request was sent in September is libel. Claiming extortion when you understood the reason you paid twice is immoral.

We don't pay the Alumni Association which by herself took away the transcript facilitation from the university to ensure robust post graduate matters aren't stacked at registry. They do a fairly good job.

So you people believe that flimsy reason of name mismatch is enough to take the school six (6) months to sort out. I can assure you, if VC's daughter has the same challenge, it won't take the school up to six (6) to sort it out. I love everything that has to do with Oyedepo but I don't like this issue of sluggishness from CU. In the timeline of events above, look at the wide gaps between the dates. Who does that in a sane country?

Where you see six months

First of. Many graduates of Covenant University have gone on to far higher ranked universities, even ivy leagues and I haven't heard anyone complain about dated transcripts.

Transcript is just an academic record. The certificate carries the date. She should have requested both at the same time to avoid nonsensical delays.

I graduated in 2015 and I have gone to collect my certificate in 2016 when the University reminded us to come and collect it. How can you graduate in 2013 and be looking for who to tension in 2020.

When I requested my transcript from Covenant to a university in Canada, it took less than a week to get there. It happened same as hers.

Study the timeline again.
Covenant responded and acted within 1 or 2 days anytime she supplies the required document.

Take at look at Timeline again and see this part

Dec 14 - CUALA confirms to her that both the CTC and signed letter have been sent to the mail room and are ready for dispatch. She acknowledges and thanks CUALA for the help.

Dec 15 - Viral video is released of her calling out CU and complaining that her transcript wasn’t processed

The issue had been resolved before she took that video!

Now again, if she wanted to call them out all she needed to do was send a message in the closed social media group first, where all officials responsible are also present and get speedy response.

Abeg na she know.

Are u saying the CU lied they sent it first time and the school abroad rejected it...??
Are u saying there was no maiden name and marital name discrepancy??

Are u saying she didn’t acknowledge as the time line said....

I don’t even get how the VCs daughter came into the issue...

What is wrong with the timeline between the dates? At least there was proper communication between both parties. The woman made it seem like there was a conspiracy against her.

The lady also said she has been requesting for her transcript since July 2020. But from the timeline she only made necessary payment in Spetember 2020.

When people come out to accuse others on social media, make sure you have your facts right. Make sure you aren't the one at fault. Don't come and embarrass yourself.

For me, this summarized what really happened.

It's simply a misunderstanding, from the lady's POV.

Neither the university nor the lady lied.
Well, let me stop here because I don't think I can understand why the issue couldn't be rectified in a matter of weeks.
