Puig needs to re-build his relationship with Koeman because Koeman is playing other players. Only yesterday, he was willing to risk two inexperienced defenders Araujo and Mingueza together. So I think this is beyond trust. A player needs to maintain good relationship with his coach especially if you havent displayed yourself as untouchable, which Puig hasnt managed to do just yet.
