capitalzero:Yet, Yahoo Yahoo will still thrive, kidnappers will still not be caught, govt and institutionalized Stealing will still be perpetrated, all these will not stop but the lives of the ordinary folk will get harder. If 2020 was bad, then more wailings and insecurity should be expected in 2021. |

justosee:Yahoo guys are not only criminals in the country. There are also kidnappers and local fraudsters. For yahoo with foreigners, I could not say much. Different nations have regulations for obtaining mobile lines.Through inter-governmental relationships and diplomacy , they can be traced. But some nations like Nigeria have many loopholes in the system to get SIM cards without proper registration. Do you know that some Yahoo guys cannot travel to certain countries because they would arrest them. Many are already on watchlist of security agencies over there. |

To register for NIMC or do corrections you need to bribe the officials or you'll spend the whole day there (if you're lucky), how is this an incentive for people to register? Plus Covid is still much around and you want people to gather in such large numbers? If this govt is really serious the process of registering should be made automated. Someone wants to correct a name spelling and you tell him he can only do that in Alausa Ikeja, so thousands of people gather at this venue for this purpose with most of them achieving nothing because they couldn't settle officials. I was asked to pay 15k for a DOB change and despite doing that the officials tell you that what you paid is to the govt and not to them, that for quick response they must be bribed too. Crazzy country |

In as much as this NIN would help in curbing insecurities and certain fraudulent activities, I think FG has their own special plans on how to use this NIN to track people. If you speak against the government on social media, you go see men show for your door. Do you wonder what Agbo Jedi is? Agbo Jedi comes in different names for people especially in the southwestern part of Nigeria, some persons call it ále’, áwopa’or áfato, to learn more about jedi click https://alawiiyeyoruba.com/agbo-jedi/ |

Dtruthspeaker:If nin is fully implemented, kidnapping may reduce. Internet fraud may reduce at least locally but robberies and other form of stealing may increase. Next thing government will do is to force all public facilities like hotels and schools to have CCTV installed. |

It use to be that social security number in the US was linked to drivers license but they stop due to privacy and confidentiality issues. Nigeria should take a cue from that and understand that there might be unintended consequences in this new policy. |

capitalzero:Kidnappers uses the phone number of their victims. This NIN attachment to mobile phone is a good project. It will reduce crime rate not end it. It was planned for next year but with current plans for another EndSARS and ASUU strike protests the government want to get Citizens busy so that such thing does not happen for now. |

The same people saying COVID19 is scam are the same people saying government shouldn't do this because of fear of spread of Covid19. Nigerians are too unpatriotic and irrational |

nghubs1:While it does make sense to have a single, comprehensive national database, the database is not an end in itself. Unfortunately, we lack the tools to effectively make use of the database. Our cities even lack proper address system, so how do you find people. If I decide to go 'underground' in Lagos, police will never find me because there are sooooomany shanty and addressless areas all over the place. We do not have DNA records, dental records, fingerprint analysis labs, face matching tech, iris recognition tech etc. So what does the database in itself really solve. We probably do not even have records of number plates and who owns them, neither do we have technology that can scan number plates of cars at key locations. In short, the country is messed up and single, comprehensive database alone will not solve any crime problem. |
