u want peace of mind take d c240. its what i currently drive. never had any issues with mine. only thing i recently changed were d front shocks.

. D thing with benz is that it was built for long distance travel, i use 5k fuel between uromi and benin city in edo state, and i still have over a quarter of tank to roll within town. I really dont see it as a fuel guzzler.

I'll assume u know little or nuthang about cars, both cars listed are not in the same class no bases for comparison. With that said, I'll advice u go for entry level cars(the corolla) if it's ur first ride. Easy to fix and maintain, wasn't built for lauxry( just a point A to B car). Good fuel economy.

Op, don't mind those telling you to go for the Benz. The corolla beats the C240 hands down.
Fuel efficiency= Corolla
Good ground clearance= Corolla( bad roads will rip off the Benz underneath)
Durability= Corolla (pls no one should argue that it's the Benz. Cos it can't go through half of the abuse the Corolla go through)
Interior= Bens( The Benz holds good value in this aspect. Corolla is bland compared to the Benz. However, the Corolla upholstery and dashboard last longer than that of the Benz.
Resale Value= Corolla( No explanation needed. A clean Naija used now goes for 1.4m to 1.5m)

The only advantage the Benz has is not being a target for thieves unlike Corolla. But it all depends on your terrain. Here in Akwa Ibom, car theft is minimal. Buy steering lock if you're getting the Corolla. Good luck!

Thank you for adding two things i omitted. When the Benz develops electrical issues, you will think it's village people. And the AC system is so expensive to fix when it's faulty. I have friends who are tired of fixing the AC, thereby driving theirs without plans of fixing it. Just of recent, a colleague of mine sold his own for just 750k, i mean a clean one o. Which clean Naija used Corolla can you buy at 1.2M?

Maintenance of Benz ain't cheap like Corolla & I don't see why one need to go over 160km/h, speed kills & that's a fact infact I don't know why car manufacturer enabled cars to top such high speed

Note: I don't use Corolla but it's good car although overpriced with lots of substandard spare parts littered around the town

If you drive both for a few months the Mercedes' value will fall to below 800k ($1700) while the Corolla can still be sold 1.5m ($3,300).

The Corolla is not costly rather it's valueable. Demand creates value which is driven up by on reliability and durability. Every year, more people buy Corollas than any other vehicle in the world so no surprises that values are high.

I drives Toyota too although not Corolla but truly speaking Toyota has good resale value just that most times Toyota looks like basic car & not for luxuries

In all honesty, take this from me. The C240 is the best choice you'll ever make b/w those two. C240 is more powerful, faster and bulletproof (Never put down a German for a japanese engineering). But surely, the corolla is more cheap to maintain than the C240, choosing the corolla you're at the expense of the German plush interior, safety and tech features, plus no camry in all years can boast you of performance (speed and handling), well except a v6 version.

It should be a gear lock and not a steering to brake pedal lock. Opinion tho!

First, pardon my error. I wouldn't have known if OP is a he or a she.

Second, that W203 series production was amongst the most unreliable Daimler Chrysler merger production. It was made from cheap plastics that broke, roofliner that sags, mbtex that later gets coarse. It's electrical are pesky and starting doom front SAM which will caus major components to deactivate. The rear SAM and driver's SAM too are not spared. Water ingress into the fuse box from the front gutter down to the SAM too. Failure of MFD and cluster, failure of Climate control compressor and also the milkshake of death which is caused by mixing of coolant and oil. Let's not also forget the legendary MAF and tbrottle pedal and throttle body malfunction. Move over to the 230Kompressor, the engine is fragile with its magnetic cam shaft sensors and weak single chain and weak tensioner that breaks to grenade the engine. We move to the C230 and c280 and c350 sports and luxury trims, the Intake manifold runner malfunction, the VGS malfunction that grenades the transmission. The engine that burns oil and pops a notification, 'add 1 qrt of oil'
