The truth is Buhari and his team doesn't know shit about economy or running a country. They think it's all about just taking decision from lay man view. They take every decision just like a common illiterate with zero intelligent.

“Its report then added that the border closure affected Nigeria’s capacity to strengthen the workforce of relevant Government security agencies with modern facilities (surveillance cameras, drones); as well as funding for training, to effectively monitor the entry and exit points in the event of a Joint Border Operation.
Eh, I’m not understanding, someone please explain...

Was there any positive result from the closure of our land borders?

Was the Government ill-advised or they just wanted our neighbors to know we're the big boss in the region?

Everyone just cashing out from any quarters.
They were targeting businesses from certain areas. Land borders in the south were zipped shut. Borders up north were swinging open.
The terrorists were given free passage, and have been frolicking during the entire border closure.
Security. Zero.
Economy. Zero.

I supported the border closure because they promised agric loans, rice plants , assistance to farmers and that it would help reduce the influx of guns and ammunition from warring countries

but during that period , boko haram striked many times,
many arms smugglers caught literally with truckloads of guns and ammo
Boko haram still managed to approximately 800 kids during that period and recently

The cost of locally made rice that was supposed to be chipe chipe price went as high as 30k
Farmers who knew nobody hardly got any loans and those who did get loans , weather , that stupid weather (thunder fire you o) spoilt crops and harvests

We still buy expensive rice, cost of everything has increased , corona caused unemployment and families are broke

So did this stupidity favor nigerians ? No , did they think it through ? No who is suffering the most ? US

na ogun go kee una
Exactly my sentiment about the border tosh. they claim they want to achieve rice self sustenance and crash the price, but obverse is the case, and if I were to give it a material quality, it's akin to walking across a field littered with the dead bodies of foolhardy soldiers who failed in their basic task of taking simple cognisance of the war they were to fight.

I thought the borders were closed to ameliorate the hardship and sufferings of Nigerians.

How come it is opened now to ameliorate the same hardship and sufferings again??

GMBuhari:
In summary

I didn't close the border because of insecurity as we said before

I didn't close the border because nigerians are lazy about farming and rice revolution as earlier discussed

I closed the border because i have beef with one small yeye country

Ladies and Gentlemen, My name is Buhari and i make the most idiotic policies in the world

What's the essence of the border closure in the first place? Even our locally made rice is very expensive than before. This govt is in a state of comatose

Anyone in authority who tells you opening borders is good for Nigeria and that open borders plays little role in your insecurity issues, does not mean well for Nigerians. Perhaps open borders are good for their personal, ethnic and religious agenda but bode ill for Nigeria’s future. Such outlook flies in the face of the entire world of nations experiences. No border control, you have no future.

THERE IS SO MUCH DISRESPECT FOR REGIONAL OR STATE INTEREST WHEN CLOSING BORDER.

Buhari owe as a duty to discuss with the governors of the states in the south west and other southern regions and make them understand why he chooses to close the border.

It is wrong for the federal government to use their socalled power to UNILATERALLY CLOSED THE BORDER.

Buhari did not even get in touch with PRESIDENTS AND PRIME MINISTER OF ECOWAS COUNTRIES.

He applied military dictatorial actions.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

To be honest, I never for once trusted Mr. Buhari and his zombies.

Do they really care about the condition of the citizens?

The reopening might have been in their favour.

Nigeria that imports even common toothpick.

chai
no they don't care. Didn't you read where they said he realised the negative impact on business and common man. It shows that they did not do their homework before going ahead to close the borders.

The analogy I use is,
it's like you gave an okada rider keys to a cargo plane to fly.

What is the expected outcome?

And most of our elected politicians are layman, so it shouldn't be surprising that they reason like one.
Re: Why Buhari Re-Opened Nigeria’s Land Borders — Vanguard by Litmus:
Or, perhaps the hidden truth is that government bowed to international pressure over issues of growing insecurity in Sahel and Lake Chad region caused by Islamic terrorism but attributed by them (these international organisations) to climate change driving water scarcity and migration. These organisations meet regularly in Niamey Niger Republic as well as N'Djamena Chad to discuss regional integration and so on. This intergration of the Lake chad border region polices invariably favour Niger, Chad and Cameroon more than Nigeria which is capable of going it alone. The great fear is that of Nigeria gradually becoming comfortable with border closing enough to next pursue an isolationist policy when the West want a more integrated sub-region, example France backing an all West African currency pegged to theirs.

Hes a f000l.

He's out of touch of reality. He's not meant to be in that Aso Rock; the only reason he is there is because of insecurity and corruption and he fell our hands yakata.

The funniest thing is that he is repeating his policies of 1983. Closing borders, having issues with Ghana, disturbing dollar flow and forex, human rights abuses, anti journalist/SM/free speech.

Useless, incompetent and clueless government , so they thought it is the neighboring countries that will bear the negative impact.

Upon all the closure, Benin Republic didn’t experience inflation. It is Nigeria that experience inflation for closing her own border. Isn’t that a sign of cursed country Inflicting pain and hardship on her citizen for good 1 year?

Nigeria is design to FAIL
