The below is the latest on Mubarak Bala's case as at December 21st 2020....

On 21 December 2020, a judge at the High Court in Abuja, Nigeria, ruled that Mubarak Bala should be immediately released from detention in Kano State, where he has been held since April 2020.

The ruling in which the judge declared Bala’s continuous incarceration as illegal and ordered his immediate release follows a ‘fundamental rights’ petition detailing how Bala has been detained without charge for more than seven months, for five months of which, he was denied access to his legal representatives.
The Court also awarded 250,000 Naira (around $500USD) against the Respondents.

Mohammad is dead!!! Dude died more than a thousand years ago.

He was not even an original prophet but fake.

Islam should be sued for adulterated plagiarism!!

They copied the Bible and modified the characters to suit their ulterior motive.

Hasten to seek forgiveness for saying what you do not know. And the best forgiveness for you is to accept Islam and worship Allah, the only one that cannot be compared to trinity.

It’s not just about blasphemy sir....Nigeria is running a Democratic goverment and all its executives are elected in that ground...:any other law that wants to run in any state should be democratically driven...
So, Why would such religious law stand in the first place....if they want an Islamic law then let them break Kano out of Nigeria.....and let them have a state governed by Islamic rulings only...whoever is going there will know that’s whats obtainable just like going to Saudi Arabia

What’s happening now Is absurd, citizens living in Kano has to abide by democratic laws and shariah laws that don’t even know what it entails.....
I mean people’s rights are being violated for thing they have no knowledge of.... what’s not wrong under democratic laws is wrong under sharia...

I agree with you and that's the point of various lawsuits challenging these unconstitutional laws. Atheist Society of Nigeria is challenging Akwa Ibom on publicly funding a Worship center. This will open door to other activities like federal government funding pilgrimages or subsidizing religious activities. The only ways to fight government is through courts, elections or revolts.

Nice one but has he been released? The problem is not the court ruling but whether the government will obey the court ruling. This has been the problem with the government of the day.

Yup they only respond when the foreign press starts broadcasting their actions. Hopefully they do the right thing and release him. He has to return to court anyway.

Thank goodness that there are sane, moderate muslims who were against the arrest from the beginning. Saucxy0 and others.

The cowardly Justice Inyang Ekpo enabled the states criminality. If there's no formal charge them theirs no case to be had. The state didn't contest the case so it should be an automatic win for the defense. Theres no reason to delay justice if the state made it clear they dont care enough to appear in court.
This is not being fair to the Judge. Have you tried to see some of the cases handled by this Judge you're calling a coward? Sometimes it's better to ask questions than come on social media to display your ignorance. That a case was not defended does not give the Plaintiff an automatic victory. Every case must succeed on its merit.

Nigeria is messed up....we have two parallel laws running in a democratic country.....
What’s worse, Muslim public office holders elected on the principle of democracy all of a sudden use religious text that’s not in the constitution that elected them to operate and jail citizen....

Imagine the Kano state Governor saying he will sign the death sentence of the man accused of singing/joking about mohammed....on what grounds?? When this is not an Islamic state??

Just imagine what 'Gandollar', a criminal-in-power, is doing to the life of this young man? angry angry

The UGLY TRUTH is that Northern Nigeria and Southern Nigeria are to extremely different "Countries" who have NO BUSINESS BEING TOGETHER.
The Northerners are Backwardly Unprogressive, Religiously Fanatical, Violent Terrorists, Hate Education, Very Nepotistic and Clanish, Mentally Challenged, Extremely Poor & Destructive in Governance, Very Corrupt, have no Allegiance to the same 'One Nigeria' they preach and Intolerant of opposing Views.

How can such set of people be lumped together in one country, with Southerners who are exactly OPPOSITE of what these Northerners are?
But because it is beneficial to them, the Northerners are waging wars on Southerners, to keep Northern and Southern Nigeria together.
Southerners MUST be ready and MUST confront their oppressive neighbours, there is no other option, except Southerners want to keep being slaughtered like Chickens, be finally enslaved in the 21st century by an even inferior Fulani Clan.
FIGHTING BACK is not a Choice, it is the only option left.

Major problem are the Southern Politicians like Amaechi, Tinubu, Fayemi, Umahi, etc, who benefit from the enslavement of their own People and chose Personal Political gain, over the safety and dignity of their own race.
Seditious Traitors are worse than the real enemy.

False.

Some cases win on technicalities.

Furthermore, there are court procedures that must follow. That a prosecutor or claimant or plaintiff did not show up for a criminal case is very disrespectful to the judge and the court.

Laws are made/Changed in the Legislature!
The Greedy Criminals representing 'mostly Christian, Southern Nigeria" are Traitors and Sell-outs.

As long as they can take home #39M every month, they dont care what happens and would allow the Islamic North to get away with anything.
If we dont deal with the local criminals living with us, trying to fight the outside criminal will be difficult

Sharia should be removed from the law, let no man be punished for speaking against a religion, especially one that claims to be the religion of peace whenever it's followers are caught doing anything violent.

It's a good thing blasphemy laws are being challenged on constitutional grounds by AAI. Maybe after its declared unconstitutional they will stop violating the law. The chief justice will probably rule against it but there's 15 other justices to consider.
The chief justice is a Sharia court judge grin grin

What do fundamental human rights mean to an atheist? Absolute nonsense! since there is no objective reality in the atheist Bible of Scientism! Since, according to their god, Charles Darwin, all of us are inherently selfish and it is the survival of the fittest why wouldn't Kano state govt or muslims who seem to be the fittest in this evolutionary struggle for survival not do whatever they like to Mubarak? Can the writer prove to me why the treatment meted out on Mubarak is objectively wrong? He cannot! Not as an atheist! Not in a million lifetimes! Atheism is philosophically nonsensical and meaningless! Only people with little knowledge, or to put it in the words of one of the greatest philosophers of our time, William L. Craig, those who don't know "the intellectual price tag of atheism " accept atheism.

It is not new for govt to lock up people unconstitutionally. This is not restricted to Nigeria only. It applies to western world too. So what the problem?.

I don't believe in locking up someone indefinitely without charge regardless of his crime. But it is govt practices around the world to lock up people for years without formal charge. But for Nigerians to start screaming "international human rights and international community" should involved is absurd. They do the same in their own countries. Let the so called international community resolves issues in their own countries first before poke-nosing others. Ask me for proofs and I will bring just 10 cases of Muslims locked up for years and decades without formal charges against them in western countries.

How about Gitmo?. There are Muslims locked up there without charge but you bigots turned blind eye. Is that constitutional?. If Bala did nothing or if govt has no case against him they need to let him go. Simple.

How about ikoyi prison?. Do you guys have idea what's going on there?. There are people in there already discharged legally but they are still held in prison because no one would come to bail them (egunje). But you guys focus on anything Islamic to make cheap point. Please go to ikoyi prison and you will see lots of innocent Muslims and nonmuslims there for years but they are already relieved of the charges brought against them but they are still not released. You all need to get a life and stop instigating hatred against religion.

IF ONLY THERE AINT NO COMPULSION IN THAT RELIGION, IT WOULD HAVE LONG GONE INTO EXTINCTIONS.
THANK GOD FOR THE GRACE TO DO ANY HOW IN CHRISTIANITY.

God did not give you grace to do any how in Christianity. If you read your Bible you'll understand this. God gave you grace to see evil, shun it and on your own volition decide to do right. The best any one can do is talk/preach to you. No one will kill you for your choices. So, there is no policing in Christianity because each person is running a race. I can't be punished for your own deeds and vice versa.
