For me fear is not the correct word. More like trepidation, mainly because death is something of an unknown quantity even though I mentally understand the finality of it. Death is inevitable but I don't want to die now because there are things I want to live to see, things I want to participate in when the time comes and goals I want to achieve for my own satisfaction.

I see death as sleeping and waking up a baby some other generations after ,

Death I believe is a Transition , the idea of the fear of death I dont understand

Roots in oral /religious traditions maybe , but then again why does the basic instinct fear death

Deers run immediately seeing a pride of lions
A puppy or 2 weeks (never known death ) left alone in a chicken pen would decapitated all before morning.

Is death not something normal , natural and not to be feared because it is unknown?

Merry Christmas Reed.

Merry Christmas Reed.

Merry Christmas TheSourcerer.

Its a primeval fear, one that has followed us out of the shrouded mists of our emergence as conscious beings. Instinctive fears are not easily shaken off. Especially one as enigmatic and as final as death.

I get the jitters when I remember that one day I will cease to exist. It's not a good feeling

I want to die without pain
Like sleeping to death
I don't fear death
I barely have emotions
I attended a burial when I was like 9 and all my cousins were crying profusely when they told us to toss in sand. I was just looking,
They(family/friends/mourners) were looking at me with some kinda expression
I don't know why but I don't feel stuffs like that
But its not a very nice kind of personality esp. in Nigeria

Cos there is nothing to fear. I think death is just like sleep just that you never wake up. I am only afraid of the pain before death

The thought of missing my loved ones. the thought of forever in absence..
it's a terrible thought indeed.
I realized however that at a certain age, we don't fear death no more. My late dad will say..... I've lived to the fullest, all I do now is for your own good. besides I don't have much time left on Earth..

The only person who is not afraid of death and as well will whole heatedly embrace it when it comes knocking are mainly people with no beautiful memories as they journey through life.

Till date, no theory can factually dictate what will become of our life after death, and except for Jesus Christ who died and rose again, no man has on his own defeated the gateway of death so as to ascertain what we should expect of life after here.

Hence, I opine that, as we still have breath in us, we should keep creating good memories by helping humanity, as that's the purpose to which we are called.

Didn't note this earlier.

Do you believe there is some sort of reincarnation after death?

While I have accepted and embraced death.

The anxiety of the unknown still lingers at the back of my mind.

I imagine it as something similar to a sleep I once had, a sleep so deep, I don't remember dreaming, even when I woke up, for few a seconds I couldn't remember who I was, or how/when I got into the bed, before my memory came back.
It was a peaceful nothingness. To an extent I regret waking up. I wish I could go back to that.

I OBJECT.
I'VE GOTTEN USED TO THE FACT THAT WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE AND WHILE WE'RE ALIVE, EVERYTHING WE DO IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME, AND WHATEVER WE ARE OR HAVE ACCOMPLISHED STOPS COUNTING FOR USE THE VERY MOMENT WE CEASE TO BREATHE.

FROM THE TIME WE'RE BORN WE PREPARE TO DIE SINCE IT'S INEVITABLE, SO WE AREN'T REALLY LIVING, BUT DYING. YOUR BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES AND WHATEVER EXPERIENCES ARE INVALID ONCE YOU'RE IN DEEP SLEEP NOT TO TALK OF WHEN YOU'RE DEAD.

PEOPLE WITH MY MINDSET JUST LIVE FOR THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND TRY TO STAY ALIVE TO KEEP DOING ALL THESE IRRELEVANT HUMAN ACTIVITIES JUST BECAUSE OTHER LIVING PEOPLE DO THEM.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN AFRAID TO DIE. I JUST DON'T WANT TO EXPERIENCE PHYSICAL PAIN BEFOREHAND. NOT THE FIRST, WON'T BE THE LAST. AND SINCE THERE'S NO PROVEN AFTERLIFE WHAT'S HERE FOR ANY OF US TO LOSE?
NOTHING. WHEN YOU'RE DEAD YOU'RE NOTHING.

The thought of ceasing to exist is totally cool by me, but the thought of dying and my soul still living for all eternity, now that shit scares the crap out of me.

I believe you agree with me that there's life after death.

in this sense, let's now assume a car as our human body and we the drivers of this car as the live inside us which is for eternity.

Now, it's already known that cars must in one way or the other breakdown(be of no use), either by crashing or as a result of depreciation.

Now my question is: Do we term the whole experience of learning and driving a car to be of non relevant since it's already known that this car will certainly be of no use in future time

One day we’ll all be skeletons .100% fact
Everything you’ll work for is totally irrelevant.100% fact.

Facts don’t respect your feelings...
If you disagree let’s hear your arguments.

NO, I DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU. I'M NOT A BELIEVER OF ANY RELIGION, AS ONLY BELIEVERS ARE CAPABLE OF WHOLEHEARTEDLY SUBSCRIBING TO RIDICULOUS NONSENSES.

Then in this sense, you mean that life came out of nothing and as well we do not exist, as something cannot come out of nothing?

Nevertheless, you've not answered the question i asked as regards to learning and driving a car.

YOUR CAR QUESTION MADE NO SENSE TO ME SO I HAVE NOTHING TO REPLY YOU.
ALSO, I HAVEN'T CLAIMED THAT LIFE CAME FROM NOTHING. I SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW WHERE WE CAME FROM OR WHERE WE GO FROM HERE. NOBODY CAN CLAIM TO HAVE THIS KNOWLEDGE, SO IT'S DEFINITELY NONE OF MY CONCERN.

I would have loved to help you have a real encounter so you yourself will believe.

Nevertheless, we all have our own way of seeing things.

However, just know that a man who has no believe in anything should be feared

I don't think I am afraid to die now. I mean, I seriously do not consider I will die now so how can I be afraid of something that isn't about to happen anytime soon especially after almost dying three or four times already. Na. I'm definitely not afraid of dying. I'm just bothered that if I did die now you all would not know I died now and would be like "where is buda" and "what happened to buda" but no one will know buda died.

So buda writes in the last testament and will:

Inform Nairaland. buda died!

But not yet obviously. Because we will all live very long and interestingly productive lives.

THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE LIKE US WHO BELIEVE REAL THINGS INSTEAD OF MADE UP IDEAS AND IMAGINATIONS. THERE IS NO NEED TO FEAR ME. RATHER FEAR THOSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO BELIEVE AND WHOLLY ACCEPT THAT AN INVISIBLE AND MUTE BEING EXISTS UP ABOVE, AND CARES FOR THEM, LISTENS TO THEM, PROVIDES FOR THEM AND DEMAND CONSTANT WORSHIP FROM THEM SO THAT WHEN THEY DIE, THEY'LL JOIN HIM IN THIS INVISIBLE, UNKNOWN PLACE HE HAS PREPARED FOR THEM TO LIVE IN, AND SING PRAISES TO HIM TILL INFINITY.

It’s comedic how you morons come up with this nonsense that anyone who doesn’t believe in your God does not believe in anything.

Apparently, your God is everything to you, which explains a lot about why many of you are dangerous and mad.

It's quite unfortunate that to some extent, you are still ignorant about how the universe came to be and the principles that guides it.

I leave you to your believe.
