You can keep sounding self righteous because you already had the plan to blame someone else for your laxity. You failed to count your goods and you are here still blaming the seller when you should have turned back the truck at the road to recount.

I hate it when people come online to spread hate because of their own failure to do the right things. A nairalander even offered you lower prices, but noooo, you must go buy from those whom you don't like, whom you claimed had cheated you many times just to come and cry here?

Gbamsolutely.... Just like Buhari blaming Jonathan

Some don't understand being too careful is dangerous as well.... Some of these guys sell recoil wire and will use Coleman nylon to pack it.

At Oroyinyin, Idumagbo and Oyebanji in Lagos Island, ' our brothers' do that a lot.

That's a fact about Coleman cables.
Touch them and see how light they're. They print fake label and nylon bearing Coleman's name. Some of them are not so smart, that they misspell Coleman as 'Coneman'

Because this is my personal house, I was exposed to a lot of materials, thereby being able to differentiate.

Starting from being supplied 10mm reinforcement with a claim of being 12mm. My iron bender immediately told the supplier from Owode Onírin to return them immediately.

I saw used bamboo almost sold at price of new.

The opportunity for me is that from site setting out, to piling (when those criminals wanted to stop at 10metres depth instead of 26m recommended in soil test report) to ground beam, to decking, to roofing and now to finishing stage, I was involved and have a book I record things. From ₦2000 spent on mallam packing sand to ₦50,000 spent on Sharp sand, all are captured.

If this job was contracted out, I would have fought my contractor that he's cheating me.

We've spent over ₦36m from April, 2020 till this night.

Fully licensed by FG and SON.

They do custom lights too. I was particularly intrigued that I can take my faulty lights back to the company and it’ll be fixed for me at very shikini money.

I returned 14 lights that were damaged when we had electrical surge and they fixed them instantly.

Let me tell you what happened, a proven dealer here gave him the real cost of the tiles and factored in his profits, the guy refused to buy from someone here because someone in the market is offering to sell cheaper.

He went to the market after a carrot was dangled in his front and he swooped on the carrot thinking we was being smart, then he was outsmarted!

Coming here to complain about the 130k makes no meaning since na you do yourself.

He has no requirement to buy from here.

Amazing, sometimes when I see people posting products that are fully manufactured here in Nigeria and printed made in UK, China, Dubai, US, etc., I laugh. Let me give you an example, the last time I posted that p.o.p is made in Yobe state, I knew many people would not believe it. Even as we speak there are companies producing them in Ibgesa Ogun State. Other products I know is commonly made in Nigeria is all those Pvc pipes. Label it whatever you want to, 90% are made in Nigeria between two states, Delta and Edo. So with many other products that's labeled made oversees. I don't know why our people will not patronize our locally made products not until it's labeled from somewhere else. Even those electric meters are made in Ogun State.

Just ignore that one talking nonsense, reason I chose to ignore him/her.

A lot of people here just jump on post without comprehending properly before jumping to respond to form Mungo Park

I never requested for a quote for tiles from anyone on Nairaland and no post of mine mentioned it.

I got quotes for Cables only from Topsy, but due to distance and urgency, I didn't buy from him. Cables are sold on the Island, known to people from far and near.

I bought all my cables from Lagos Island, but in the process, some of our dubious brothers there tried to swindle me, but I discovered on time and asked for a refund. That's for cables and not tiles.

The issue of tiles I talked about is on the Ebere guy claiming to have loaded, but failed to do so.

All evidences are against him and he has promised to either refund or replace missing tiles. They have association at that Odunade Building Materials Market and their Chairman said I can come with all evidences for them to deal with the matter. He said if it's true that he had the intention to cheat, they'll close his shop and hand him over to the police. Hence, my mind is at rest.

The sole aim of sharing is to enlighten others which I clearly stated in the post

1. When going yourself to buy anything, negotiate yourself if you don't trust your engineer, then pay your engineer a fee to go with you when going to pick.

2. To also ensure you take time to count your purchases before leaving and never trust the words of those that swore to you.

Some people can't comprehend simple write.

We're here to learn and all builders are free to source their materials from any where they choose and they can keep getting quotes from any where.

I remember how respond to many RFQ. We end up getting some and losing out on others. But that will not prevent us from still responding to RFQs.

Some sha want to talk, with comprehending what the post means.

Yes, 90% of dealers of cables in retail either in Alaba International Market or Oroyinyin, Idumagbo etc are Igbos. That's a fact and from this number, people that are trustworthy that can tell you not to worry, and you'll be satisfied are less than 30%.

It's same thing that the Ijebus like Shomolu area, Eguns like Makoko and Ijora Badia is dominated by people from 'Ilu Oke' (Kwara)

I have been dealing with guys at Oroyinyin, Idumagbo, Jankara Lagos Island since the days when Late Ademola Adeniji-Adele was the chairman of LILG and the days of Late Oba Oyekan, when we had this mass transit LMTC and LMTS operating in Lagos.

Those that are born in the 70/80s can relate.

His wife is also down with COVID-19 cause she's taking care of the husband and contracted it from him.

No one dare say she should have been careful while taking care of the husband. We dare not say such to a woman mourning.

I was reading till I saw the part that it's a Chinese company.

The thing for me is that some of these items from China are cheaper buying from Alibaba/Ali Express with same 'quality'

Close to 90% of items imported into Nigeria are from China, including the almighty Turkey Doors.l, but quality differs.

When I saw an invoice and bill of lading of one major importer that branded his bathroom items in his name which flood the market, I begin to wonder.

All his jacuzzi, shower cubicle are from China and they're branded in his name, with made in UK on it.

All na packaging.

The attached image is from Aliexpress. That Garden light can be ordered including shipping for a price lesser than ₦5000 from China

How much is it when buying from Nigeria?

It's not about setting up shop in Nigeria, the question is do you deliver quality?
The same backyard manufacturers who produce the shitty qualities we castigate and hate so much can setup shop real easy and brand it made in Nigeria. Yes it's made in Nigeria, but what are you making ? Just saying.

Not to knock them or anything , but Looked them up and doesn't seem to be that much of a "standard manufacturing " going on. Again, just saying

Yinmu!

Before stone-coated, there was Nigerite Super lightweight. Then, longspan roofing sheet. Later, Steptiles. Not too long metcopo, shingles, shakes, Gerald, polycarbonate, SIP, acrylic and so on...

Everything is only a matter of time!

_____

I did a project in Lekki, Lagos for a high profile Nigerian here and he decided to use Nigerite roofing sheet. He cares not about who’s looking! His land costs about 60m lipsrsealed

______

In similar vein, I did a 8.5m roof in 2015. Guess What! It was a longspan roofing sheet. That amount will almost deliver a duplex (carcass) in some location.

Everything is a matter of choice!

Are you able to find out why he chooses to use Nigerite on a 60M land? Not making any sense to me. People have preferences but this one am finding difficult to believe.

It’s becoming a nauseating common occurrence on here.

People assuming that because they’re flogging stuff on here that we owe some allegiance of purchasing to them. And when people happen to get ripped off and come on here to vent off they’re made fun off. It’s not iwa omoluwabi.

Back in the haydays a lot of the heavy hitters taught us on here. People like Spyder880, Skimanski, Aventures, etc How many of us gave them jobs? How many of the sellers on here have ever sent a check to Seun?

We know when some of the alleged recent big boys were question asking pipsqueaks on here too.

I just don’t like mob mentality especially against one of us that got swindled.
