I have never in my life registered for this NIN stuff.
I mean, I haven't done the NIN registration at any point in time before.
But I was surprised to get a NIN number when I dailed *346#.
..
How do I verify directly from the NIMC, that the NIN number I got is mine?
..
Note:
I wouldn't want to verify the NIN number from any third-party website.... I would like to verify it directly from the NIMC, or directly from the NIMC Official Website.

Simple...you ve registered for BVN before. It was harmonised then

when did you do your Bvn?
I registered for my BVN around that time they started sending numerous texts and emails to me, threatening to freeze my account if it doesn't have a BVN.
I can't really remember the exact year again..

Meanwhile,, neither the NIMC or the CBN had come out to authenticate this claim..
..
SO, I WILL BLATANTLY REFUSE TO BUY IT..
..
I will continue to see it as an error, and as a breach of the NIMC’s Database, until both the NIMC and CBN come out to accept that such a thing actually happened.. And they should also tell us the way forward.

Was it a glitch or something??

You mean, within those Early-BVN ERA of 2014, NIMC actually authorized the Harmonisation, which allowed BVN Registrants to also got registered and harmonised into the NIN Database??

From the nonsense link you shared, journalists asked Kayode Adegoke (the NIMC Spokesperson) if the Social Media rumour about the BVN Registrants already having a NIN number assigned to them was true, ... what did he say??
..
He said that: “The information is incorrect.”
Then he want ahead to divert from the simple question, and said that: “We have linked our data with BVN. People need to come to our office to register. If you have not registered with NIMC, go to our centres and register.”
Now, why would someone register for NIN again, if the main aim for the NIMC registration is the NIN Number?? Was he trying to say that the already-assigned BVN-Generated NIN was an error? Or that there was not supposed to be any BVN-Generated NIN in the first place?
If there is anything they are hiding from us, let them open it up.. If they need us to update the information on our supposed BVN-Generated Error-NIN, let them tell us.
..
As for me, I'm not going anywhere.
If there is no way to access the information on the NIN number online, and then regularise/update the information online, then they should keep whatever they have there as My NIN to themselves.
..
And for Adegoke to come out to contradict himself in the final paragraph line-to-line,, he is the one to be called the fool (and then, including you and everyone that swallowed his shabby replies hook-line-and-sinker)..
Just read this senseless reply: “Truly, we have harmonised our data with some BVN data....” (so tell me, how can someone know the some which he was referring to? And why did he deny at first?)

“...But it is an incomplete process until you register with NIMC....” (so tell me, if the registration in the first place was for the NIN, and I already have a NIN to myself now, courtesy of the BVN/NIMC-error, why registering for NIN again?).

“...If you don’t register with NIMC, efforts to generate your NIN will show record not found....” (but as you can see, that was a blatant lie. I myself, I didn't register with the NIMC, and I made an effort to generate my NIN, and I had a NIN retrieved for me.)

Listen well op, you seem to be using AIRTEL. The steps are simple. The sim you used to dial that code which brought out the NIN number is probably the same sim you used to create your national identity / voter's card as the case may be. That NIN number is actually yours. If you're using airtel

- Dial it again

- Screenshot the NIN number or write it down somewhere

- Then dial this code *121*1#. It would bring out that pop up in the screenshot

- Insert the number then send

- Go have a chilled coke and relax
