A groom, Akai Imo wore traditional Efik attire for his white wedding in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, while his partner, Osita Sandra Uju wore a white ball dress.

The groom's attire consists of a wrapper called Usobo, a long white shirt and a woolen cap. The wedding which took place on December 20, was titled "Local Love 2020"

The groom is popularly known as "Local Man" a University of Uyo graduate.

This is a beautiful concept but.
If he chose to wear his native attire for his church wedding how come he could not convince the bride to do the same?

Isn't it obvious that he is marrying an incompatible lady whom he can't control?
Nigerian men of this generation are in big trouble; they've gone from Samsons to Simpsons overnight.

I still wonder how women who were in our parents' time relegated to the back seat as passengers in the home are now the one who call the shots?

Only 2 in 10men today are the ones whose overall decisions are not somewhat influenced by their wife's opinions on it.
That in itself is a calamity.

Several years ago, I suggested a business proposal to my mumu friend and he told me he could not be definite on his stand right away because as someone who loved to carry his wife along; he'd need to discuss it with her.
That was the end of my friendship with him.

The last time I saw Simpleton the simple simp was on a weekday in a tailor's shop; he took a casual leave from work to accompany his wife to go amend her gown.

White wedding is European culture (including the attires). For the groom to ditch the suit & put on his own cultural attire is no big deal. It shows he's an enlightened man, a non-conformist.
