The whistleblower system is the only way these sort of thing can work. It should be extended to lifestyle issues of public servants set against the facts of their remunerations, simple. That is what happens in much of Asia. They just track your expenses and tally it with your income and taxes. You explain the difference. But once again, to get this sort of framework operational you need strong legislation. To get legislation you need the right people in power and the strong activism to keep them focused. To do all that you need a citizenry that recognises they are in a pit but can get out of it. Unfortunately that is where the whole thing breaks down. The citizens will either irresponsibly pass the whole thing over to God and then bow down to idolise their problems in human form, tieing up both the hands of God and man to act. |

I get the bit that it's for research. But what's the research for? When u get a que like this. U are suppose to start investigating links, gathering evidence (hard evidence) on the peeps the allegations are been pointed at. Although, both giving of bribe and accepting of bribe are the same. The judges involved in accepting of such bribes weda anonymous or not, once pointed at, must be investigated silently. Till the evidence are solid enough to nail him. We all know that Nigeria's Intelligence gathering system is shallow, reason why most of us doubt if the survey was really done or results were just concocted For analysis. But following leads and not using anonymous statements in Court is something they should be able to do with ease. There most be a money trail to follow, to tie these miscreants that sell court judgement to the highest bidder. Lastly Icpc should be ashamed of that report getting into public domain, because it would have been best if it was an internal report for internal consumption to be shared with only sister agencies with vested interests in stopping the "buy judgement syndicate" either by Pursuing New leads or following up on those allegations, to get evidence that can be used in court. Employ us Dem no go gree Claudiusdeux: |

Don't they have bank accounts? How was the former justice onoughen account traced? Besides, icpc can trace their assets and use their salaries to assess the worth of those properties.Though all of them don't register their properties with their own names. |

Ryan03:Smh. I believe u can read before blabbing. This post is not about ipo but the prosecutor. I wholly agree that police pay is trash, but that's not the focus here. The focus here is why prosecutor are largely unable to properly discharge their duties and achieve maximum results |

Grandmeister:Yes that is what I am saying. Not only ICPC. The entire justice system including police, private prosecutors, state counsels etc are under-paid, understaffed and over worked. If u are not, or don't want to be tempted by corruption, then prosection job is not for u. |

anigbajumo:read my post well, investigation would bring you or lead you on the part of fact gathering hence collating your evidence. evidence are not picked up on the street like a used satchel of water. enough to work with there research if the want to. I'm not here saying they proceed to prosecute with their paper work but build their investigation from there. they are not paid for research work but investigate, prosecute and execute judgement. the ability to execute judgement make the icpc more powerful that efcc. icpc is more of a constitutional tribunal any form of corrupt practices. try understand me, I'm not saying they should prosecute and execute judgement with evidence but they can build cases that would lead us and yield results. the Europeans and the western world can take years to build a cases just to have concrete evidence against criminal elements in the society, why can't we do same? |
