_________

The unique thing about kobocity.com is we issue warnings to spammers and every member can see the reason why they’re banned.

Kobocity - there’s always a solution for every problem.

Good job Brabus/Nx3t.
I am just worried, do you have to use the name of the website (kobocity) as your username, bearing in mind that this was supposed to be a PUBLIC, joint effort of all of us here and not a PERSONAL idea or Project?
I am also worried that the thing has moved from being a joint, mutual effort to a private effort, for example, l was expecting a lot of thing will be thrown open and a consensus reached, things like the name of the project, selection of the 'Site Admins', who has 'propriety ownership' of the site and can shut down the site if he or she so wishes, what is the MOU between members and so many other issues that should be resolved in a PARTNERSHIP before it swings into action, were either overlooked or done 'behind the scenes'.

Looking at the way you have been posting about it, one may be misled into thinking it personally belongs to you (maybe you paid for the Hosting fees but anyone here could have paid that small fee) and not be too comfortable with that arrangement since it negates the whole idea of what we have been discussing and planning for, on this thread.
A lot of Clarifications.. Who is the WE in KoboCity?

Not withstanding, l commend the effort.

BTW
: Why are they banning your user i.d's? And who is doing so? Spambot or the Admins or the Site Owner?

That's good news.

I was offered N3,200 in Lagos yesterday but i declined.
That price was without any haggling so I'm sure seller could have reduced it if i pressed further.

We dey wait...

Thanks so much. You’re very right on all you’ve said so far.
However, I would reply to this message as Brabus and not as kobocity spokesman.

I already answered who the “WE” in the kobocity project are few pages away.

When the idea took off almost a week ago, a WhatsApp group was created and the link to the site was shared publicly for discussions related to the project.
We cannot hold such discussion on a platform like this. It’s not as easy as you think. I really wish we could do that.

Some people are early adopters while others must see their way clear before they commit.

A lot of people have called me to ask questions to know “Who is behind this project and all sort? There’s also a very small group who jumped on the project at the word go.

I believe a joint venture (JV) is a business arrangement in which two or more parties agree to pool their resources for the purpose of accomplishing a specific task.

From the time we created the WhatsApp group for this project, only 4 people have joined (2 spammers, 2 programmers) and donation has been received from only one investor who chose to remain anonymous.

I really wish I could do say more.

The progress made so far on this project won’t be possible if all I do is trying to see my way clear, figure out “How to navigate every rough terrains” or spend months to put together strategies.

I always hit the ground running towards the end goal paying little attention to the distractions, obstacles and excuses on my way.

I do not confuse my path with my destination. I always start by starting even if the commitment is just paying a very SMALL hosting fee grin

~ Brabus

____________

On the flipside, I think we can start something fresh and new - something all of us can call our own. Something we can all partake in the decision making process.

I will happily join in.

Thanks once again and best regards.

Note: The link to the WhatsApp group was reset/revoked this morning when we realized spammers are hitting the thread through the link that was only shared here.

Good morning everyone. I am humbled from the mentions I got yesterday from the member who used my doors as a yardstick to everyone who encouraged to keep my leg on the gear. You all made feel encouraged that yes, people are actually seeing my works.

I promise not to relent and to live up to expectations of Gbadexy when he gave me that first job.

Thank y'all again and let's do greater things together.

Good morning

What happened to no mixing of cement after 5pm? And if they choose to mix without using it all, the cost will be deducted from their payments. Such warning should be handed out before giving them the job. It sounds more like a problem of poor supervision.

/
obviously, you haven't been on site or seen them work. First they're too lazy and can't differentiate between work and pleasure times. Their love for our women no be here. They might be discussing with a woman forgetting what they have already mixed couple of bags of cement and it will just block and they will go back to using it to fill holes.

They don't understand that while plastering, you need to pack the cements that dropped on the floor. They will leave it to dry out.

Believe me, these people are very good at their work. Their walls are extra smooth when compared to our locals but their biggest issue is wastage.

Maybe I have been meeting the wrong team and you might meet people who are exceptional on your project. Good luck

Good morning all,

On the issue of reinforcements using local bar , TMT et all., and the cost implications ,strength..

The designer of any structures choose the grade of steel he/she intends to design with, this grade will be clearly written at the 2nd page (general notes) or on each page footer of the S.Drawing, the implications of this grade choose for your project will determine robustness , number of required required reinforcements in each structural member
Lay example below.

If I use 410n/mm2 say column of (230x230mm) for a duplex it may requires 6 nos of T16mm and use grade 460 for same column it will require 4 no of T16mm (assumption), the implications of this is that if baba lati supervise for u he will do the following

1)Tell you he built same thing at honourable place @ lekki they use 4 No's of 16mm and the structure is still standing till today.
2)This Engr is not considerate
3) charge you for same 6nos and put 4 No's inside, And cast

forgetting or lack d knowledge of variables and notes in the Drawing.

To the main discussion we have various kind of steel in the market , which most are very bad and good only known brand can easily be passed , most of all this local steel of unknown origin are having same properties as plain bar(unthreaded bar (that iron we use for burglary then)) ..

How do you recognise all this in d open market?

Its difficult for small project since u will b procuring ur steel in batches and from cheapest source available ,u will likely not run a tensile strength.

Large projects and mindful owner (contractor) make use of standard and mostly consultant is always on site contractor will b mindful else he will waste money when ask to break concrete and re do and he looses credibility gradually because during next meeting on a job and such contractor name is mention we strike such out without d company knowing self.

Summary
Buy iron brand that's traceable with clear identification on it

Never reduce or propose what's not in ur drawing without ur designer consent

Quantity surveyor should always quote reinforcements using quality brands price because contractor will not buy TMT when u quote local to make thing's cheaper

TMT is good , local is likewise good if you are running a test or buying good one

I have said it. We are going back to 2,650/2,700. Otherwise their cements go turn bricks/blocks. If you are a cement seller and you are reading this, better start selling at a price that is less than 3,000 before the price go turn 2700.

I believe someone would be telling the design team “If all the trusses connect at a point... blah, blah...”

I stick with my steel fabricator because he always ask for the engineering drawing for every small structures we are building.

You're a man of knowledge and I cherish you for that.

On Quantity Surveyors' BOQ as per reinforcements, the quality or grade is ALWAYS spelled out in the description column and that automatically determines the rate per tonnage.

Most Quantity Surveyors' description notes comes from the "General Notes" in the structural drawings for structural items in the project in addition to the BESMM.

That's where the issue of 'Prime Cost' is applied in Bill of Quantity.

When the choice of a particular material is in question among the substitutes, a smart QS will not only specify the brand or quality but the actual market cost in the description column technically called the Prime Cost.

I write to commend and congratulate money121 Mr Adegboyega Adesegun Ayyub (CEO Imran Roof) for successful completion of my house roofing project in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. First, I got an over inflated estimate for the said project from local artisan who is ready to ripped me off even after pleading.

My worries and further researches led me to Nairaland where I came across hundreds of positive reviews and testimonies about Imran Roof. I discussed this with my partner and we agreed to give his company a try even without physical contact. We chatted only on whatsApp and without wasting time he deployed his team of roof artisan whom I referred to as "roof gladiators" to Sagamu from Lagos for measurement diary. Worthy of note, their measurement was less the earlier estimate I got from the local artisan and this in addition saved me hundred of thousand.

Fast forward, Imran gave us the best affordable price of 0.55mm Steptiles Roofing Sheets without compromising quantity and quality. He is a professional, good listener, good adviser, swift, honest, trustworthy, reliable, humble, jovial and his real time feedback is top notch. Without probing his physical office address, more than a million naira transaction deal was sealed on whatsApp with this Nigerian business man - Mr Adegboyega Adesegun Ayyub (CEO Imran Roof).

With little above 75% down payment due to my bank App daily limit transaction - Imran went ahead on trust loaded the steptiles roof, accessories and deployed his team to commence work on site. This part really touch my heart that someone you barely know could be this trusty. I paid him his 25% balance when I confirmed that his team were already on site.

For the "roof gladiators", menh! - the guys knew their onions. The roof installation took them just one day! They got to site around 6:30am and completed the job on the same day! My brother was shocked when he informed them to go ahead on site in the morning and was surprised at the pace of work done when he joined them around 12 noon. The installation was so neat and well finished.

Imran roof CEO is the generation of those that drive online rest of mind transactions without fear of losing your money. I call him "pay for the service and go to sleep"!

On this note, why go further stressing yourself out on roofing your house? When Imran Roof is just at a chat away!
Please Do Call/WhatsApp him on 08085310359. Customers Satisfaction is their Watch Word and I am satisfied with their service.

Thank you, you just expose some the things those criminals minded contractors do. One thing I don’t understand, our people saying locally made iron. I believe TMT TIGER is made in Ikorudu so as other brands, it’s matter of choice, the prices and quality is very clear. You either buy the one that doesn’t meet standard or pay little more for quality, our people will prefer buying cheap one forgetting the house the are building is not something the will replace in 5 years. Every time I read stories like this when people discuss about this kind of stuffs, I asked myself do want to save couple of hundred and waste millions, or build house that will not give you rest of mind knowing that kind of material used to put up the structure. We need to have culture of putting safety first, before savings.
