Not sure I heard them say they make such profit. Making sales of about N20k-N30k is a bit different from making profits. I believe they are two different things. If they buy a bag for 50k, chances are that they might make much, or not, depending on how the bag is stuffed.

I don't doubt their daily sales figure at all, considering the prices of the cups or bowls they sell with. Strangely, true money is in the least of things we expect.
Yeah, but the heading of the news makes it sound like he makes 20-30k profit every day, which is the bone of contention for some arguing here.

Most likely not pure profit because it's unbelievable. And no COVID stats are not cooked because we aren't even testing most people.
A lot of people needs to be educated on COVID-19

Lagos test 3000 samples daily and between 600-700 return positive. That's like 20%

If Lagos test 20 million population, 2 million Lagosians would be positive

Welldone, Nigeria my country!

No mind them. They will soon come and say how selling agama lizard's head fetches 1 million.

The problem I have with this country is that people have been so pauperised and they feel its normal. The govt will drive people to an extent they will begin cooking and eating their own sh*t. Especially in that North.

They are healthy and eat what they can find in their environment for free. And don't bother about what they don't have.

You are fat and eat whatever you are given in the market.
If they don't give you tomatoes, you are screwed

In Nigeria grasshoppers or Para are usually fried and eaten as food. These insects are mostly caught during rainy season.

The grasshoppers are mostly cought in Maiduguri.

Traders make serious profit selling grasshoppers. Do you know that according to Un food and Agricultural organisation, grasshoppers is rich with protein, vitamins, fibre and minerals and it a cheaper option for protein compared to other meat.

We spoke to a trader who said they that they normally get the grasshoppers from Maiduguri, and transport it to kaduna. A beg (sack) is sold for 50 thousand. He disclosed that business is good, he makes 20 to 30 thousand daily selling it.

Nice hustle... I like this. They should keep it up.

It's always refreshing to see people working hard to make honest living instead of begging, stealing or robbing for money.

While some people hustle hard to get that cheese off the streets, others are only thinking of shortcuts to success.

They are making morning from it good and fine but making 20,000 -30,000 daily is exaggerated. Look at their face, do they look like someone that makes 600,000 to 900,000 monthly?

I can authenticate the highlighted sentence during my time as a corper in Borno state. Borno state was one peaceful state before boko haram attack.

When I served in borno in Gubio to be precise I witnessed these guys who catches the locusts walk into the sandy vegetations to catch them at night but they are usually clothed using sacks and heavy jackets to cover their, bodies, legs and feets to prevent scratch from the locusts and something's snake bites during the night hunting. They usually go with funny looking hunting dogs

There are days at night when locust attack in their millions, I and my fellow corpers will cover windows, doors and every outlet to prevent them from getting into our lodges. One of our lodges was behind the local govt and close to the bush. All manner of creepy things we witnessed during my service year in that place. Infact during this time we usually off the lights as they are easily attracted to it and the region enjoys 24 hours supply even during heavy rainfall, harmattan winds and sandstorm.

When these guys emerges from the bush with sacks of locusts they board buses from Gubio going to Maiduguri . If you see as women are waiting and struggling to grab these sacks and even fight over it ehn as if their lives depend on it. Sometimes those of us in the bus will hand over some to those unable to struggle and these women beckon us to throw some of the sacks through the bus Windows for them to buy from these hunters.

The first time I saw the cooked/fried locusts at post office in Maiduguri I thought it was crayfish but until I got closer I shouted and ran backed lol it was then I was told it is locust and its local name is fara . I don't know if I got the local name right. grin Interestedly during my service year in Borno I did not eat this thing

It is mostly enjoyed with beer.

So you believe that crap from the blogger? If he makes 20 to 30k a day, let's put it at average of 25k per day, that is 150k per week which by extension, translate to 600k per month. Do any of those guys(the seller and even the blogger) look like people that make 300k per month?
There is a difference between selling 20 to 30k per day and making 20 to 30k per day.
