Toju200:If this is true, there should be at least two attack aircrafts on stand-by less than 15 minutes from Baga. Surveillance drones should also be put to maximum use to remove the advantage of surprise on the part of the terrorists. This is Nigeria's opportunity to kill large numbers of these terrorists. Their should be heavy surveillance around the borderd too, the military can either start plucking them off as they come into the country or wait till their attack fails and are retreating before destroying them. The kind of operation being planned by this terrorist will require heavy logistics that will be very easy to detect if the military is serious. I pray this opportunity won't be wasted. |

seankafor:Orladue Shidi was accused of being a blood relative of notorious gang leader Terwase Akwaza, alias ‘Gana,’ his family said. Orladue Shidi A young man identified as Orladue Shidi has been reportedly murdered by troops of the Nigerian Army, Peoples Gazette can report, based on testimony from family sources. The victim’s family said he was accused of being a blood relative of notorious gang leader Terwase Akwaza, alias ‘Gana’. A member of the Shidi Akaa-tyem family in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, who pleaded anonymity to avoid being singled out for victimisation by the military, told the Gazette that Mr. Shidi was extrajudicially killed by army personnel after being held in custody for 20 days. “He (Orladue Shidi) was arrested on December 9, 2020, at Abaji market along Katsina-Ala Takum road (an interception between Benue and Taraba states) by soldiers from Gbise village here in Benue,” our source said. “When his sister accosted troops deployed in Gbise, they said they were investigating to unravel whether or not Shidi was related to Gana (a notorious bandit leader recently neutralised by the military),” “Trusting the army not to act like (the now disbanded) SARS unit of the police (which was infamous for extrajudicial killings), she went home relaxed that her brother would be released upon conclusion of investigation,” he added. The Gazette learnt that Mr. Shidi was, however, murdered in military custody and his corpse dumped at Zaki Biam road, 182.1 km from the capital city Makurdi. The outcome of the purported investigation has remained unknown. “A passerby who saw the body discarded by the roadside informed the family about the situation,” our source stated, while narrating that members of the family had absconded their hometown for fear of being hounded and killed by soldiers. An army spokesman did not immediately respond to how military authorities were working to ensure that the Shidi Akaa-tyem family gets justice for their slain kinsman. The Nigerian Army has been long notorious for various forms of human rights infractions against citizens, as well as war crimes. Although the military has spent years fighting back against the accusations — establishing a desk to address abuses in 2017— its personnel have shown no sign of improved understanding or importance of human rights of civilians. https://peoplesgazette.com/nigerian-soldiers-kill-man-for-being-blood-relative-of-gana-dump-body-by-roadside/

In his breakdown of the N675 billion military budget, Ndume said N500 billion is for procurement of arms and ammunition as well as fighting equipment. Operation Lafiya Dole in the Northeast is to get N75 billion for counter-insurgency operations in Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region. “The sum of N100 billion is for the ongoing training of 8,000 soldiers in Zaria and Falgore Forest to match with modern warfare against the insurgency.” https://m.guardian.ng/news/fg-votes-n675-billion-for-arms-training-of-soldiers/ |

KDSG Security Update: Saturday 9th January 2021 - Bandits neutralized in air missions over locations in Birnin Gwari local government area - Suspected bandits apprehended by locals in Chikun local government area In continuation of offensives over identified bandit hideouts, air platforms conducted armed missions over locations in Birnin Gwari local government area. According to operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government, armed reconnaissance was carried out over Sani Maichuku, Alhaji Chorki, Sangeku, Zabiya, Dutsen Magaji, Kotonkoro and adjoining settlements. At Sani Maichuku, several bandit settlements were sighted, and were engaged as some bandits attempted to escape on three motorcycles. Similarly, at Alhaji Chokri, bandits were sighted on five motorcycles with herds of cattle, and were duly neutralized by the fighter jet crew. Communication was maintained with ground troops particularly at Zabiya and Gwaska; no suspicious activity was reported in those locations. In another development, the military under the auspices of Operation Thunder Strike, reported that suspected bandits attacked some farmers in a community off the Kaduna-Abuja Road in Chikun local government area. According to the report, villagers pursued and apprehended two of the suspects. However, due to the severe beating administered by the villagers, one of the suspects died from the injuries sustained. The other remains in critical condition, in the custody of the troops. Responding to the feedback, Governor Nasir El-Rufai commended the military for another successful round of operations in the Birnin Gwari area, and praised their sustained efforts to deny bandits freedom of action. The Governor also enjoined communities to embrace full recourse to the law in cooperating with security operatives, stressing that self-help is always a dangerous option. Signed Samuel Aruwan Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.

About five persons have been reported killed when the Nigerian Army personnel clashed with bus drivers in Ilesha-Baruba motor park in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State. The cause of the misunderstanding was said to be over an alleged N100 bribe which the soldiers, which mounted a roadblock in the area, demanded from the bus drivers. It was learnt that the crisis started on Friday after a bus driver on Ilesha-Sinawu Road refused to part with N100 for the soldiers, and an argument ensued. SaharaReporters learnt that in the course of the argument, the soldiers slapped him and he angrily left, came back and mobilised his other colleagues from the motor park. After that, the soldiers opened fire on the drivers and five persons were feared dead, while several others were injured. An eyewitness noted that the soldiers had been notorious for extorting money from the bus drivers and the altercation ensued because the drivers could not take the harassment any longer. “Friday was the market day, and people came from several neighbouring areas to Sinawu for trade. Vehicular movements from and outside Sinawu area were so high. So, the soldiers had a field day collecting money from drivers. “The soldiers on the Ilesha-Baruba highway, which is a distance of 25 minutes, were found extorting commercial vehicles which ply the road, ranging from N100 to N500 depending on what you are carrying. It was while extorting one of the commercial vehicles that the incident happened. “The driver refused to give the soldiers N100, and they slapped him several times. He then reported them to the motor park, and his colleagues came to question the soldiers. That was how the soldiers shot at them,” the witness, Abdul Ganiyu, narrated. “The altercation led to the shooting of no fewer than five persons who are feared dead as we speak while others were injured. The soldiers have also fled from the scene,” another witness added. https://saharareporters.com/2021/01/09/five-feared-killed-soldiers-bus-drivers-clash-over-n100 |

Have you guys heard that Central African Republic may slide into another civil war anytime from now? Well, this is what happened. You are looking at 74-year-old retired army general & former President François Bozizé of the country, he once ruled the country for 10 years before his dramatic ouster when his presidential palace came under attack & he had to japa in 2013. Okay, fast forward to December 2019, Bozize returned from seven-year exile in Uganda & announced that he wants to become president again & he was going to run in the elections but the electoral body & country's highest court disqualified him because of an international warrant and United Nations sanctions against him for alleged assassinations, incitement to genocide, torture & other crimes. Elections went on & incumbent President Faustin Archange Touadera won a second term last month but there has been problem ever since. Bozize has rallied rebels to destabilize the country & as I am writing this, the city of Bouar, one of the largest in the country is already bombarded by rebels loyal to Bozize & other warlords. As a matter of fact, in November, six of the most powerful armed rebel groups, who between them control two-thirds of the country, announced an alliance against incumbent Touadera’s government. They launched a series of attacks in a bid to disrupt the December 27 presidential and legislative elections. The thing is that these rebel groups are formed along ethnic & tribal lines as CAR is a mainly Christian nation. Why are they fighting? CAR is incredibly rich in resources, the best diamonds in the world come from this country, which is also one of the poorest in the world. The fight is over who controls these resources - uranium reserves, crude oil, gold, diamonds, cobalt, lumber, hydropower, arable land (there is a lot of land) etc. Each warlord has his own tribal army and he who is able to outmuscle others will become president. You remember this is the country of Bokassa? Shit is about to get real there because France and Russia don chook mouth, jet fighters of the French military are already flying over the nation. Another civil war loading in the heart of Africa. Incumbent president has called on France, Russia & Rwanda to help him. It is going to be bloody because Bozize's tribe, the Gbaya people, are the majority. Many soldiers are Gbaya and they are still loyal to Bozize. The current president is in control of about 20% of the country. This is not the first time Bozize will be involved in fights like these sha. Who will save Africans from Africans? By the way, Lagos has five times more people than this country so it should be like Dubai in terms of development but it is not. Since CAR got independence in 1960, it had been from one problem to another. It is also estimated to be the unhealthiest country as well as the worst country in which to be a youth. Africans, I hail who no hail una. |

BabaOwen:if as true as stated; this would be another reprehensible act.... absolutely reprehensible, the culprits, violent thugs in NA uniform must be fished out and adequately dealt with... apologies must be tendered and compensation must be paid to the family of the deceased. if this case is swept under the carpet like many others over the years. It further makes it hard to justify the "NA is a professional force" mantra. As being a professional force is not by words or how many times those words are repeated but by action and consequences for egregious acts of violence against civilian citizens of the federal Republic of Nigeria. Extortion and extra-judicial murder has never been the job description at the NA. "Lance Corporal Harrison Friday - One good soldier against evil. We call it valiant when a gun holding soldier shoots a gun holding terrorist. What do we call a soldier that speaks up for the unarmed he swore to protect, One good soldier" Here is a soldier that has been publicly arrested, humiliated and labelled a criminal by the NA what's his crime? he asked his fellow soldiers to stay true to their oath and not turn their guns on innocent civilians meanwhile soldiers accused of been kidnap-ring assailants and police-murderers are enjoying silence. On this case, its nothing but shame, absolute shame. Shallom Allahu akbar God is good |

BY HUSSAINI JIRGI | A group of suspected Boko Haram members yesterday unleashed mayhem in Gubja local government area of Yobe state. LEADERSHIP Sunday reports that a primary school, hospital and cars were set ablaze during the attack. It was gathered that the attackers invaded the town and set some government structures on fire. A resident, who confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP Sunday on condition of anonymity, said that, “They (the insurgents) invaded Gujba through Borno village before wreaking havoc on the town.” Residents, who had retired into their homes due to the chilly harmattan weather were forced to flee into the bushes as the gunmen stormed the town, shooting sporadically. Another resident, who spoke to LEADERSHIP Sunday from Gujba town on condition of anonymity, said the gunmen set fire on a hospital and primary school, and waited until it burnt down before they left. A competent source also said that they carted away one Hilux and one ambulance belonging to a Non-governmental Organisation (NGOs) before setting the government structures ablaze. Another resident added that the insurgents stole one Hilux belonging to the local security personnel and other valuables from the residents’ houses during the evening attack. A resident, who identified herself as Ali Buba, said the attackers walked to the town after keeping their motorcycles at a nearby town, which had been deserted following multiple attacks. “The situation is pathetic and the town has been thrown into mourning after losing some security personnel, even as the gunmen looted foodstuffs from the town”. A resident called on the public to cooperate with the military, while appealing to the government for improved security as more villages are attacked. LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that the casualties could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report. “As at the time of filing this report, no official statement, both from security personnel and civilians”. https://leadership.ng/boko-haram-attack-gujba-town-burn-hospital-school-others/?amp=1 |

The Nigerian Army is a legal terrorist organisation. Go research on how a terrorist organization operates, then juxtapose that with the operations of the Nigerian Army, you see easily that they are just common terrorists given credence by the Nigerian state. UltimateDreamer: |

Just read a thread about the quantity of oil and gas in the lake Chad basin and I can't but shake my head at the opportunity Nigeria is wasting. Even if we spend $50 billion to ensure peace and security in that region and starts drilling the oil and gas, we will get the money back in a very short period of time. https://twitter.com/Google_12point7/status/1347875732417114114?s=19 |
