that's all they know, they re not familiar with new advances in dental science, they re so rough when cleaning your teeth, you always bleed and can't eat for one week.

Just like our opticians are obsessed with prescription lenses for patients, they don't check eye pressure, clean your eyes or check for root causes even diet related ones, they just want to dilate your pupils, load useless medications and sell glasses.

Our medical professionals are destroyers visit them at your own peril, your money can't save you from their wickedness.

The dentist I went to years ago sha told me extraction was the last option sha...he suggested something like treating the cavity and all that, I was happy that I won't lose a tooth till he told me the bill was 18k.

I kukuma paid him 4K to have the tooth removed.

So I guess extraction is the cheapest option hence why they always recommend that.

Nigeria dentists though.....They are really managing,I wonder how many people go to dentists for tooth check up.....
Exactly! When most Nigerians start having toothaches, they put hot salt solution in their mouth claiming it's worm. When that fails, they put pepper. When that fails they use Ghana or Yoruba medicine. When that fails, they finally go to the doctor and by then irreparable damage would've been done to the tooth and extraction will end up being the only possible solution

I honestly don't know of it's Laziness or what but Nigeria Doctors always go for the last option which is Extraction.

They would rather opt for Extraction and would never suggest root canal treatment, even if a person have removed 4teeths, they will still opt for Extraction.

Most developed country would be happy to do all they can and when there is no way out again before they opt for Extraction. Keeping as much natural teeth as possible is the best, why then do Nigeria dentist always opt for Extraction?

Sadly, if you insist on restorative measures, the will tagged you stubborn patient. Tired much.

To me its not laziness or anything. Sometimes they check the cost of other things and if they fell you won't be able to bear the cost they just advice you to remove it.

When I removed mine, I was told about the price of getting another one plus the surgery to refix it and the likelihood that it might get infected in future. Ono I just extracted it o

Not really true oo, we still have good dentists in Nigeria na. the dentist that extracted my tooth; to me is the best o. No pain at all. Sometimes I still wonder if I actually removed a tooth when I hear stories about other people
Re: Why Do Nigerian Dentists Always Suggest Extraction? by Jessepaid(m): 6:36am On Jan 10, 2021
Shit...well..

What do you expect...

I had an extraction some years back...

The dentist personally told me that while they were interns learning dentistry, it was suggested by their teachers that they each remove one teeth from their mouths to know the feeling..

Plus extraction is way easier...

And cheaper too...

Have you seen the cost of a root canal procedure?

It's over the roof.. plus the tooth still dies anyway..

Ps: most dentists also prefer to extract tooth from slim people..
It's cos of they have less denser bones compared to muscular and big people and the tooth comes out more easily...
And they require less anaesthesia than muscular people...

I Removed 2 abnormally placed teeth in my lower jaw by skilled dentists at NAUTH Nnewi in 2016. It was quick and painless. I was anesthesized. My entire dentition was cleaned and scaled with removal of trapped ossified substances and pus. But medications plenty ooh. Procedures wasn't that costly.

Flap excision or tooth extraction was his option and he obviously went for extraction..
From experience, those are some of the most difficult tooth to extract.

There are alot of factors to consider before opting for a root canal treatment.
They are
1. Cost: Root canal is not a cheap procedure and after its completion the tooth needs to be crowned(capped). This ideally in a govt hospital cost nothing less than 50k in Nigeria. Also it requires multiple visits.
2. Availability of equipment: Some centers don't have x-ray machines and an ideal root canal treatment requires minimum of four x-rays. This may make it impossible to carry out.
3. Tooth health status: Not all teeth are restorable. Many are badly broken down so much that the prognosis for a root canal treatment may be very poor.
4. Tooth support: the bony support for a tooth may be inadequate to hold a tooth and root canal may not be feasible......

Listen,I am a uniben trained dentist currently working in England and I can tell you I know many of our Nigerian dentists working with the NHS here and doing very well.

I knew what he wrote about, to a layman they will think he needs a restorative procedure. He didn't even fall into the category being talked about, cause his case is special.

the fault is from the patient and not doctor. you well see a person having toothache and you won't go to the hospital to know what is happening and you will prefer using fuel or going to iyanoba market to meet aboki and the aboki will tell you that it's worm that is there, he will give you something to apply so that the worm will die. after a year or two the crown of the tooth us already gone. so how will the RCT work. just answer this question op
You people like defelcting and making up stories to counter an argument.
Did the OP say he went to aboki?
Someone said he went to a dentist you are talking of those who went to aboki
Dentists dont follow the right procedure bit it is still the patient's fault. SMH

Please oo, what's the essence of scaling and polishing??
My babe have been disturbing for that
It cleans & polish your teeth to remove hardened dirt and stains that your tooth brush cannot take out . Scaling and polishing helps to prevent tooth decay and other complications caused by cavity in the teeth . If you do scale & polish every six month, you will never have any issues with tooth cavity that will eventually lead to tooth extraction and other dental complications .

The problem doesn't end when you get rid of the infected tooth, you have to get rid of the worms disturbing the tooth nd not the tooth itself, why do you think the problem persists after removing the infected tooth, it's because, the worms are still living in there and will immediately start feasting on a new one, once their host has been taken, this new one takes time before one starts to notice, by the time it has eaten deep into the infected tooth is when you start to feel the pain, stop removing your tooth, or else you'll end up removing more than two, because the worms disturbing the tooth is still alive, been battling with mine since primary sch till date, herbs is all I've been using for it, now the affected tooth is breaking by itself, I hardly feel the pains. We do not remove our head simply because we are suffering from headache, rather we use drugs for it, why not apply same method you use in treating headache even though this one is different, the pain is out of this world, very wicked thing.
Please, do you mean your teeth is breaking?

Perhaps you have been going to the wrong dentists. There are a lot of competent dentist who carry out root canal treatments in Lagos- that I know! Even better than abroad- I have my proof. A root canal treatment + filling + crown will cost you between 250,000 to 300,000 at some of the best dentists. Some people just opt for extraction when they see the bill. It is far more lucrative for a dentist to preserve than extract your tooth!

I doubt it...

A friend was told to extract due to a persistent tooth issue.

When he came to me, I suggested Euthymol toothpaste with CA-C 1000 and painkillers...

Well, he has not felt pain and has been using his full dental cavity wholly well going on 3 years plus.

Can I get that toothpaste from store, and what's CA-C 100, also what's the generic name for the painkiller you're suggesting? Thanks
