I honestly don't know of it's Laziness or what but Nigeria Doctors always go for the last option which is Extraction.

They would rather opt for Extraction and would never suggest root canal treatment, even if a person have removed 4teeths, they will still opt for Extraction.

Most developed country would be happy to do all they can and when there is no way out again before they opt for Extraction. Keeping as much natural teeth as possible is the best, why then do Nigeria dentist always opt for Extraction?

Sadly, if you insist on restorative measures, the will tagged you stubborn patient. Tired much.

that's all they know, they re not familiar with new advances in dental science, they re so rough when cleaning your teeth, you always bleed and can't eat for one week.

Wow I never knew there were other options, I remember when my gum overlap my tooth and it was grazing when I chew, the dentist said they could surgically tear off the part of the gum overlapping or extraction, which I opt for extraction and it was the most uncomfortable moment of my life.

There are alot of factors to consider before opting for a root canal treatment.
They are
1. Cost: Root canal is not a cheap procedure and after its completion the tooth needs to be crowned(capped). This ideally in a govt hospital cost nothing less than 50k in Nigeria. Also it requires multiple visits.
2. Availability of equipment: Some centers don't have x-ray machines and an ideal root canal treatment requires minimum of four x-rays. This may make it impossible to carry out.
3. Tooth health status: Not all teeth are restorable. Many are badly broken down so much that the prognosis for a root canal treatment may be very poor.
4. Tooth support: the bony support for a tooth may be inadequate to hold a tooth and root canal may not be feasible......



Listen,I am a uniben trained dentist currently working in England and I can tell you I know many of our Nigerian dentists working with the NHS here and doing very well.

Flap excision or tooth extraction was his option and he obviously went for extraction..
From experience,those are some of the most difficult tooth to extract.

The problem doesn't end when you get rid of the infected tooth, you have to get rid of the worms disturbing the tooth nd not the tooth itself, why do you think the problem persists after removing the infected tooth, it's because, the worms are still living in there and will immediately start feasting on a new one, once their host has been taken, this new one takes time before one starts to notice, by the time it has eaten deep into the infected tooth is when you start to feel the pain, stop removing your tooth, or else you'll end up removing more than two, because the worms disturbing the tooth is still alive, been battling with mine since primary sch till date, herbs is all I've been using for it, now the affected tooth is breaking by itself, I hardly feel the pains. We do not remove our head simply because we are suffering from headache, rather we use drugs for it, why not apply same method you use in treating headache even though this one is different, the pain is out of this world, very wicked thing.
